Wow I didn’t finish reading yet. Anyway welcome to IOS and iPhone world .

This is yet another one of those passive aggressive jabs at Samsung/Android thread. As both an iPhone and Android user from day one, I can honestly say most of the criticisms that you listed is either bogus, user ignorance, and user error.

Passive aggressive jabs? He wrote a well-thought-out and factual piece on his extensive experience with Android. I used to work in the industry. Before that, I was fairly certain I'd never use an Android device mostly because I only use Apple products for the most part. After a stint in the wireless business, you could not pay me enough to use an Android device as my only device. Not a chance. All his criticisms were legitimate, far more so than your "passive aggressive" jab at his excellent post.

I just saw a Note 8 comparison to the X,
And even just seeing Android’s control center i remembered why i sweared to never use Android ever again.
I’ts just not fit for trusty phone usage.
It’s not a PC (which i prefer btw).
I get why tech people prefer the tweaks but they always disregard the awful software that wastes so muc battery life etc.

The OP made sound arguments and obviously has a lot of experience with Android. Whether or not he did things the hard way in some cases is not as important as the overall takeaway:

Android gives you more flexibility and some new features sooner than iPhone, but it takes more effort and time to keep it working, and gives you less certainty that it will keep working.

So it really comes down to how much time you are willing to invest in configuring your phone versus just using it.

In my case, I could totally figure out the ins and outs of Android, but I don’t want to. My time is limited and very valuable. I want something tight, curated, safe, secure, reliable, and quality-controlled. That’s iPhone. I personally wouldn’t ever consider an Android.

The OP can't even answer simple questions about Android when asked. Okay, factual if you say so.

I didn't wanna go through the whole read but from the little I read, sounds like you're happy with your move and if you ever need to hack something to make it "work" then it's not working for you lol. I completely disagree with that mentality.

For the Android users that say you need to Root it and add a ROM to make it work right is stupid IMO.

I'm glad you're happy with you iPhone. Welcome to iOS and all its Glory.

I personally love Android and iOS and use both because for me I enjoy both. But I only like "Google Phones" I'll never own a Samsung or LG phone proper.

iMessage is fantastic ! Enjoy

Why do you need to grill him on the details though? It doesn’t change the overall point of his post.
The overall TL;DR point could have been iPhones are way better for me in my market vs a Google-less, Play Store-less Android phone I put sketchy apps and sketchy roms on. But it wasn't.

I have always been an Android user, and I have also been an apple hater in the earlier days, just like all the ones you see online all the time.

...

I don’t worship big companies that don’t care about me, I don’t care if my product is Apple or not, only if it is good. If Android can get their **** together some time in the future, or if Apple drops the ball I’ll switch in a heartbeat. Fanboyism is stupid, please don’t be a fanboy, pick the best product, regardless of alliegence, it helps the market be more competitive as well.

I skimmed through your whole "wall of text" and just found it funny that you claim not be tied to a company, but admit you hated Apple for much of your life. A bit inconsistent.

I am guessing some of your jaded experience is with older devices, because my experience with the Note 8 has been quite good. Its the best phone I've owned, following many years of iPhones, and very happy with it.

You are enjoying your X and that is great, but Apple isn't any more perfect than any other company. You talked about their quality being perfect. Take a look at some of the many threads in here about people with problems. Apple support is excellent and they should all get things taken care of, but lets not pretend that they are "perfect".

We can agree that competition is great and its good to see several OEMs now that have great flagship smartphones.

First iphone ever. Been using Ipad for a long time (ipad 4)........But come on with the home screen its soooo boring......Only 4 apps on the dock??? Why cant apple give us option to customized the home screen....Too bad Apple wont let 3rd party like Nova develop a launcher for iOS..... That will be a great day.
Apple will never do this, this are retarded Features, Android has plenty of them.
its just a big mess, this will never happen, its completely against Apples philosophy.

"this are retarded Features" asking for More than 4 apps on the dock? SMH

I ge what you are saying, but it won't happen. The more control apple as over it's iOS, the smoother it runs because it is to their standards.

I am on the fence with getting an X or an s8. Different worlds, different problems, I just need to decide what compromises I can live with. It sucks apple is stubborn, but with the emerging competitors apple will start to bend in certain areas.

I was hating apple, and I am now not tied to a company, what's wrong with that? What's in consistent?

I have been using Android for the past 8 years and my last device was the S7E how is that old? Also you know what I've seen this a lot, every year people say oh it's only the old Android devices, the new ones are better. I think they are right in a sense because Android phones get significantly worse over time. So when you get a brand new android you're always like oh now it's just as good as Apple.

Just because there are threads complaining about quality doesn't mean Apple isn't better than others. Also I don't need to look at nay threads, I can just compare the phones I own and see one of them is clearly better built.

I live in Canada so it's not google-less, just that when I travel it gives me headaches all the time. Obviously Google makes things a lot better but still not good enough. Another example is when I create a contact I have to like choose where to put it, on Google, on Exchange, on Phone, on SIM etc... Why does it have to be so stupid complicated? On iPhone it's just contacts, why would you ever bother to ask the user? It's not like you can run out of space on the cloud with contacts. I've lost my contacts so many times because of this and had to import them from files.

There is no need for wall of text. You like iPhone period.

I have used galaxy phones since S days. I am happy with them. Despite their flaws but to me they are still better than iPhone just for the simple fact that iPhone is locked down in an over priced ecosystem and have an O/S that behaves like a fixed preprogrammed advanced calculator (unlike android which you can customize to run the way you want including tweaking and extending capabilities)

I can assure you that face ID can unlock the phone when it's lying flat on a table with view of your chin. You just need to train it. When it doesn't recognise you, enter the pass code to train it. Next time it will unlock.

At first you say I don't need to explain my reasons, or you don't want to read them.

But then you proceed to explain your own reasons. Contradiction much? Do you want reasons explained or do you not?

Or maybe you just don't want to see any reasons for opinions other than yours>

It is because of your wall of text. :)

believe it or not, thats the way it is. apple wont do this, ever.

Apple did change the iPad dock. The new dock holds from 11 to 15 apps. Previously I believe it was limited to 6 apps. Does this mean it will show up on the iPhone? It's possible, though improbable.

I have a Note 3 running a Jedi Elite ROM. It still functions just as well as the day I got it. I use it as a TV remote, media device and some other random stuff.

On that, I've also got a V30+ that I don't feel needs to be rooted. It functions as I want it to without.

I've jail broken an iPhone before too and while it's fun, it's also just for novelty now as originally I only wanted third party keyboards. I can use Swype now, so no need.

My only gripe with Apple right now is they are not using the best modems. My data and call quality when in the boondocks has been utterly dismal. My V30+ eats my 7 Plus for breakfast in data speed. Sure I could get the 8 Plus or the X but they still wouldn't have band 71 or 4x4 MIMO (I think the T-Mobile version has 256-QAM as well right? The 8/8+/X could have them if the Qualcomm modem wasn't crippled?). I'm learning a lot about the value of a good modem.

When it comes to ecosystem, it takes quite a bit more tinkering with Android to get things just right. IOS is fairly intuitive, aside from the control center which could easily use 3D touch to disable Wi-Fi/BT/etc instead of having to open settings.

Overall, both devices have pros and cons. It's why I'll always have both.
