TS Says It's Video Enabled, but not "the" iPod Video.

Exactly. I was hoping for an Archos-style form factor, with basically the same dimension as the current iPod but with most of the front covered with a display and the click wheel... well, Jonathan Ive gets the big bucks for a good reason.

Think Secret has posted an update. Now they think it's a video-enabled iPod, but not the Video iPod everyone is expecting. That, they say - may be coming in 2006 along with a movie store.

Interesting to note that the 4G iPods may have video playback capability inside. I've often wondered about that, due to past comments from Apple.
Would be cool if there could be a software download to unlock that capability, but that's doubtful, given the even smaller screen size of the 4G iPods compared to these latest models (if they are in fact as represented in the posted ads).

In other news...

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. Tuesday said it will pay RealNetworks Inc. $761 million to resolve their disputes, including a lawsuit that accused the world's largest software maker of using its dominance in operating systems to promote its rival media software

actually, it's a new iPod Ad displayed on the new HD Powerbook....I hope.
does anyone think they will upgrade the ibooks? or leave them the same? Would that make sense to leave them far behind if they have a significant upgrade to the powerbooks? Just a thought...

p.s. watched pirates of silicon valley last night to get myself pumped up for this...steve jobs=emotional mess, bill gates=death would make the world a better place.

us store down now, FWIW
Yeah, not real surprising. We know they're releasing something. Now, if only it would come up with the new stuff before the presentation!

Because Apple's handling this right: video is just "one more extra" on the MUSIC iPods. It's not a "video iPod," just an iPod that can play videos among other frills.

That;s the most ridiculous excuse I've read. A new feature WORTHY of this hoopla and it's just an 'extra feature that can be hidden even disregarded in the ads? That's just silly to even argue.

Not PowerMacs, not PowerBooks.

Please people. Do you really think Apple would make such an event simply to introduce "better computers"? Or "HD-capable PowerBooks"? Joe Street isn't interested in that.

It's either iPod and/or "iHome"-related (and please don't fix on the "iHome" name, I mean the general set-top box idea).

Meh, even the USA store is down now.

Looks like we'll know pretty soon.

I think that is putting it mildly! ;)

Personally, I hope one of the two things happens:

A. Upgraded computers. Then one more thing --> New iPod.

B. New iPod. Then one more thing --> New x86 Mac something introduced like a new laptop.

Oh wait a minute. It's Wednesday not Tuesday. So it can't be a new laptop! :D

Maybe I will just go to bed and read about it tomorrow. Then again, probably not!

Sushi

Agreed.

Yeah, there's no way you're going to bed sushi, you know it. Come on, enjoy the festivities with us! :D

This is probably nothing but if you go to the 'Store' tab on apple's site, the tab that used to say 'iPod + iTunes' now just says 'Music.'

Will there eventually be a tab that says 'Movies'?

I wonder what the BBC's involvement in this is? They have very strong music links and there is the Madonna iPod rumour and she does live here now. Performance by her or something maybe?
I was wondering the same thing. I think you've got a very good suggestion there. If it is a pink Madonna nano, I'll be a bit gutted, I've just brought the misses a pink mini!

The ads seem to be real, but none are watching or looking at the screens of the iPod and one girl covers the screen with her thumb. So, they don't suggest video iPods at all.

um, which is more exciting, a picture of somebody dancing, or of somebody watching TV. I thought so. Plus, it's still mostly an ipod, mostly music. Ipod photo ads were still of dancing people, no?

That all said, I hope it's a fake. either the screen is tiny on that, or the whole thing is huge.... it's just not efficient. Also, being wider, as everything else has gone narrower, makes it look fat. ick.

None the less, kinda a different theme on the ad, with more detail and colors and an urban look, than the ones I've seen (though I'm living in a bubble now) and I think I like the look. we'll know in an hour, hopefully.

Yeah, probably will! :)

Apple sure knows how to jerk my chain. I feel like a kid waiting for the candy store/ice cream shop to open.

Dang!

The available current G4 aren't yet powerful enough to drive HD video... so forget that now!

Photos on a color screen is different then downloading movies/clkips from Itunes (new) to watch on your video iPod (new) It just doesn't make sense to me.
