CLEARLY FAKE

if this is an ad for a video ipod why are the people dancing around instead of staring at the screen?

duh!!!!!!!!

I wonder what the BBC's involvement in this is? They have very strong music links and there is the Madonna iPod rumour and she does live here now. Performance by her or something maybe?

As for the screen displayed in that ad, I don't know why Apple would include a 4:3 screen, not HD (and this is supposed to be the year of HD!), and have it take up such little space. Ah well, guess we'll find out in less than an hour now...

Only mac junkies are going to be disappointed by no powermac/powerbook upgrades...not the typical consumer.

And right now, I have a 4:3 TV, and it's an HDTV and displays HD broadcasts...don't get the terms mixed up. It's 16:9, not HD. Most content is still 4:3 these days...and it will be for awhile.

Well the ads for the color screen ipods show photos but all the ads had dancers! It's about music first and foremost!

what if the posters are genuine fakes? ...they were put up to make the building look pretty and generate plenty of interest but then when the event gets underway they will pull them down revealing the real new ipod...just a thought.

Interesting analysis - and a good one me thinks. I am sure Apple will have some promotion outside the theatre as well, for all those of us hanging around outside trying to get in!

Why not do the old double-switch-aroo!

Its just an evolution of the branding surely? Yes it shows some slight change to the form factor of the iPod, but I cant see how you people are already making this a video iPod?! Its just newer advertising for the standard iPod surely?!

The original silhouettes never depicted the mini, and the nano has its own branding (and the shuffles ads were different to the standard ads also)...so these are just the new standard iPod ads. If there was a video iPod, you can bet ya ass that SJ wouldn't have let it be plastered all over some wall hours before he gets to take another photo opportunity!

Noooo! Please apple spare us that!

Because they're listening/watching a music video, and because it's still an iPod.

Ah, if those ads are real, how come none of the subjects are WATCHING the iPod? They all seem to be DANCING to the music.
Because Apple's handling this right: video is just "one more extra" on the MUSIC iPods. It's not a "video iPod," just an iPod that can play videos among other frills.

Apple stores are starting to drop like flies..

The U.S. Store is reloading VERY slowly for me, but it's not down yet. Looks like about 35 minutes until kickoff.

One of the rotating promos on the front of apple.com still shows the nano event, but it doesn't look like this one will be broadcast live either. I'm guessing it will be up tonight or tomorrow like the nano announcement.

I love these events!!!

EDIT:

Yep, it's down. Back up "within the hour." Doesn't it usually go down closer to the start time of the event?

I personally believe they're real. My reason is that I don't believe that iLounge.com would ruin their reputation just minutes when everyone would find out the truth.

If they were fake and they wanterd to participate in rumor mongering, they would have released them days ago.

True, after all...the nano presentatoin had regular iPod ads in the building, not nano ads.

I think that is putting it mildly! ;)

Personally, I hope one of the two things happens:

A. Upgraded computers. Then one more thing --> New iPod.

B. New iPod. Then one more thing --> New x86 Mac something introduced like a new laptop.

Oh wait a minute. It's Wednesday not Tuesday. So it can't be a new laptop! :D

Maybe I will just go to bed and read about it tomorrow. Then again, probably not!
