I think his Wings and solo work were better than John's solo stuff.
I'm of the belief that, if Paul could assume a young man's body, his current music would be much more popular. If you consider the best independent bands out there, they sound very similar to Paul's style. Take a look at The Decemberists and John Mayer. Paul's still the best melody maker in modern history.
I didn't like this ad. Paul looked freaky.
nice ad! Emenem, U2, Dylan, now McCartney!
Point taken. However you'd have to admit that anybody under 25 or 30 would see Paul MaCartney (or John Mayer for that matter) as music that their father would listen to. Now I have no idea what the demographic spread of iPod users are (I'd image it would be pretty wide) but the success of the product has been in no small part due to it's "cool" image. Previous music selections in advertisements have helped this.
Now, is there anybody here who would call Paul McCartney "cool"? Melodic genius or not?
And the concept is quite similar to the Eminem iPod commercial. Except Paul doesn't beat up on any silhouette dancers.
"Imagine" was a POS song.

The effect around his eyes show his age greatly.
He is 64, and still making music, touring and shooting ads. Cut the guy some slack.
Band on the Run

Pipes of Peace
Mull of kintyre

When I clicked on the link to watch it, all I received was a Q with a question mark in the middle of it. Quicktime is up to date running 7.1.6. The appletv commercial works fine, just curious.
You should try him out. I think his Wings and solo work were better than John's solo stuff.
His eyes do look freaky in the close up of his face. What were they thinking? I liked it, though... He was probably on shrooms.
