Paul,... what can I say, I admire your young heart, I just cant stand u behave like a child..

I'm of the belief that, if Paul could assume a young man's body, his current music would be much more popular. If you consider the best independent bands out there, they sound very similar to Paul's style. Take a look at The Decemberists and John Mayer. Paul's still the best melody maker in modern history.

Point taken. However you'd have to admit that anybody under 25 or 30 would see Paul MaCartney (or John Mayer for that matter) as music that their father would listen to. Now I have no idea what the demographic spread of iPod users are (I'd image it would be pretty wide) but the success of the product has been in no small part due to it's "cool" image. Previous music selections in advertisements have helped this.

Now, is there anybody here who would call Paul McCartney "cool"? Melodic genius or not?

You've got a point. But there certainly are a lot of people who think Paul is cool enough to sell iPods. A lot of my friends in my age range (I'm 26) love the Beatles enough to know a large part of their catalogue and their post-Beatles work. I am a hippy, though.

The ads do show an eclectic range of music. That could only help sales. I don't think anyone would think Paul uncool enough to turn them off to iPods.

Reminds of the film when Robbin Williams played a cleaning woman. When in the control room scene the producer says, "NOT TOO CLOSE"!

The effect around his eyes show his age greatly.

He's lived a full life.

And by full life, I mean, he's done a lot of drugs.

When he was young, though-I'm a relatively straight man, but back then-even I'd have jumped his bones.

Argg on my iMac all I see is a quicktime logo w/ question mark! anyone have another link?

Time to hang up your mandolin Paul and head off to the old popstar's home. I never liked the Beetles and least of all Paul. The guy has enough money (just as Lennon demonstrated in his hypocritical "Imagine" video clip) and now that he is rapidly running out of ideas he'll sell his soul if he has to so he can make more. Or maybe he needs it to pay off that ex-wife of his?

When I clicked on the link to watch it, all I received was a Q with a question mark in the middle of it. Quicktime is up to date running 7.1.6. The appletv commercial works fine, just curious.

im in the same boat...what gives?

You should try him out. I think his Wings and solo work were better than John's solo stuff.

His eyes do look freaky in the close up of his face. What were they thinking? I liked it, though... He was probably on shrooms.

There's no way that McCartney + Wings were better than Lennon.

And I think Apple's main message in the commercial was to point out McCartney's usage of LSD. Did anyone else notice all those peculiar colours and dancing houses and all those flowers twirling around him?

Ok now it works. Nice ad! The color kinda reminded me of the fratellis ad that aired a few months back. The people making this ads are so creative and talented...iPod ads are hte most artistic/catchy ads I've ever seen! And being quite young, I'm embarassed to admit I've never heard his music til now...good stuff though.
