I think this is a nice commercial, quite catchy. I really like the end when the Apple logo appears as he whistles. :) :apple:

Why won't it play in the new safari?

Worked fine for me, running Safari 3 Beta on my 2.5GHz DP Power Mac G5. :)

I really like this add. It really fits well with Sir Paul. It's very Beatles-like. Especially if you have seen Yellow Submarine, or some of their other really weird and colorful movies and albums. This has a modern twist with the animation.

I digg it

First Paul is talking with Apple now Yoko with the Save Darfur album... Hmmm, I wonder when the Beatles' catalog will become available.

He's lived a full life.

And by full life, I mean, he's done a lot of drugs.

When he was young, though-I'm a relatively straight man, but back then-even I'd have jumped his bones.

i'm a relatively gay man, and i've always though the beetles were a little awkward looking... and when i say "awkward" i mean ugly... just so there's no confusion ;-)

*le snap*

 I know saying anything against the Beatles gets many people's knickers in a twist here....but like I care. This song sounds like it was written by a 5 year old. Why can't he just retire like everyone else?

I thought it was because MacIntosh was his(or Woz's) favorite apple.

No, not at all. Jef Raskin named the Macintosh, which in case you weren't aware, was released when Apple had already been a company for 8 years. Steve likes the Beatles and he liked apples (and had lived or at least often visited a hippie commune which had an apple orchard).

Tunes is definitely catchy.

I just wish Paul sold it as iTunes Plus.

Agree he looks a tad bit weird in it. It's the way the coloring washes him out and the shadows around the eyes. But a very neat video overall...

Time to hang up your mandolin Paul and head off to the old popstar's home. I never liked the Beetles and least of all Paul. The guy has enough money (just as Lennon demonstrated in his hypocritical "Imagine" video clip) and now that he is rapidly running out of ideas he'll sell his soul if he has to so he can make more. Or maybe he needs it to pay off that ex-wife of his?

Or.......do you ever think that maybe some musicians, if even just a few, do it because they love music and they love to make it. I'm not a huge solo beatles fan, but I admire the drive.

.

When Weird Al gets an ad...

now that will make history.:) :) :)

On a serious note, this ad is a little bit happy and goofy.

Most itunes ads are edgy and intense.

hmmmmm.

The ad looks colourful, but to be honest thats more of a fact than a positive remark, whilst some of the songs of the beatles were good, I not a big fan of Paul McCartney.

Can't see a damn thing. Does this require QT 7.1.6 or something? I've got 7.1.3 right now. Or maybe they're doing something to the site. Boo :D

Point taken. However you'd have to admit that anybody under 25 or 30 would see Paul MaCartney (or John Mayer for that matter) as music that their father would listen to. Now I have no idea what the demographic spread of iPod users are (I'd image it would be pretty wide) but the success of the product has been in no small part due to it's "cool" image. Previous music selections in advertisements have helped this.

Now, is there anybody here who would call Paul McCartney "cool"? Melodic genius or not?

I'm 26 and I love the Beatles as do all my friends. Why should his age determine his cool? I never understood that one. Do people still only equate cool with youth?

Thanks for contributing more to popular culture than Paul, I'm glad you can look down on what he has done because you've done so much more for us. Beatles btw, not Beetles.

The Beatles are peerless but from the 80's (Pipes of Peace?)Paul Mcartney's hasn't exactly set the world alight and he is as dull as ditchwater. Sorry

The Fratellis ha sbeen my favourite ipod ad so far
