I'm dead sure it didn't come with the 2nd and 4th gen (8 GB models). Prolly the 3rd was an exception?
I have no idea. Ask the greedy Apple:rolleyes: Maybe they figured it out that only more expensive iPhones deserve earphones with remote and mic...

Review and Comparison:

I would like to see a comparison of iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5.1.1 vs 5G to see what the speed difference is. iOS 6 is laggy on 4th gen.

Also would like to know the difference of the external speaker between the two- sound quality and volume level.

Lastly with headphones/earphones which device sounds better. Because my 4th gen sounds very good.

For external.speaker sound is about the same. Probably 5% louder. Tested both with lost iPod sound alert

I respect that it is likely not there, but you can't exactly guarantee or promise me anything without being able to back it up.

I can

I can guarantee 100% for a fact that the light sensor just ISN'T THERE. At all. There isn't one. Apple just didn't put it there and gave a lame excuse.

This is the email from Phil Schiller saying "the iPod 5 doesn't have a light sensor because its just too thin".

Which we all know is bullcrap.

But they don't even sell the earPods without remote - they went out of their way to give the new iPod touch an inferior pair than you can get in store, and the remote is one of the things that really makes a difference with a touch based iPod!
They included a random loop, it just seems tight they skimped on the remote!
oh we'll I bought better headphones with the remote and mic
