Stop being a troll. The iPod Touch is a camera and the wrist strap simply underlines it's partial identity as such. That, and as a fun product for kids/teens.

I can see a lot of teens carrying this instead of PSV or 3DS.

I also carry an 4G touch as I have never had an iPhone ever.

For your reference, a PSV + 32GB card will cost you $330. iPod touch is only $299, it's a bargain. :D

I agree with the original poster about not having a lower priced one, such as a 16GB model for a lower price. An 8GB one would be cheaper, but it wouldn't be enough capacity especially with the 1080p HD capabilities.

I am not fond of the new colors either. Black is the only one I'd go for.

I wish they didn't just make the screen taller. I think it'd be better if they made the screen a little wider as well.

I do like the increased performance and better camera however. Pictures on the 4th Gen iPod touch are grainy, even in high amounts of light.

I haven't picked up a new one and I don't think I will be anytime soon because of the new dock connector and the fact that there is no cheaper 16GB model.

Wow. Why don't you just buy a Galaxy Player, then?

The new iPod Touch has been improved in almost every way, you're smoking crack. I like that it looks more like an iPhone. Im looking forward to the better camera, flash, and having siri. Not to mention the taller screen and the A5 chip too.

For people who dont want to spend 3 grand a year for an iPhone plan, this is a good alternative. I already preordered one.

Too bad for whatever dumb reason Lightning doesn't work with Thunderbolt (which I honestly thought was a given) ... You wouldn't be able to keep all 3 charged with your MacBook. Oh wells.

No reason - USB transfer speeds already exceed the drives already. There would be no advantage at all and would be less compatible given that you have to support PC's - many of which do not support Thunderbolt.

I'm getting one. I'm rolling android phone these days, will get a surface tab and will have this ipod touch to keep all my apps handy. I love spreading my tech around.

First of all, they are very ugly, very garish, and very "un-Apple-like". The touch and nano look like Sony products, if anything.

Secondly, a wrist-strap? Seriously?

Thirdly, a $299 entry level model? That's the same price as the 8.9 inch Kindle Fire HD. I've heard of the Apple tax, but this is ridiculous.

Overall, the release of these products at these prices speaks to what may be a very disappointing future for Apple. We all knew they would lose their magic one day, but it seems that day has come already.

I'm with you, when i saw the photo of the new ipod lineup i thinked: they aren't apple products. The new ipod touch borned outdated with the A5, it's the first time that the ipod touch has different chip than the iphone on launch. Developers will focus in the A6 chip to optimize their programs, not the A5. The design is subjetive, but i don't like it. Very unclean back and looks like a toy. It's clear that things are changing.

I disagree completely, they appear very Apple-like to me. I love the colours, and the standard black is still there (with a black face) for those who don't like colours. The thinness is still there, and it's adopted the new iPhone 5 screen size. As for the strap, you don't have to attach it, but for those who want it, it's a nice feature. Overall, the device hasn't changed that much in appearance, so I don't see why it's all of a sudden "very un-Apple like", that doesn't make sense.

"A very disappointing future for Apple"? I don't see it, but often when people make statements like that, their doom and gloom comments are more full of hope than actual prediction.

My mom's a big iPod Touch fan, she got a 3rd gen, then upgraded to 4th gen. I'm not sure she's ready for an iPhone (a bit concerned about increased monthly telecoms fees) so she'll probably stick with the iPod Touch and upgrade at some point to that. Also, she's looking at iPads. These devices aren't just for kids, some adults find them excellent - I had a gen 1 version and depending on whether I get the new iPhone or an iPad Mini, this device might just find it's way into my pocket. I think Apple's done well.

> An optional (more expensive) USB3/thunderbolt to lightning for those of us without archaic machines would have been great. "Hey guys lets finally include USB 3.0 on the macs. **** the iPhone though. "

Guess what? 100% of all apps out right now are optimized for the A5 and lower. Why? Because 100% of all iOS devices have an A5 chip. (Until tomorrow, but how many people are getting an iPhone 5? By your logic everyone.) This includes the iPad 3, which is in no way shape or form sluggish. The iPod touch simply doesn't need an A6. You think Apple doesn't test these things? You think they don't have (thick) prototype iPod touches with A6 chips? The iPod doesn't do cellular. The iPod doesn't have a fantastic camera. It doesn't need an A6.

When I saw the iPod touch I thinked: damn, this is what the iPhone should have been. Things aren't changing. iPods have always come in colors, and now someone at Apple was smart enough to extend that to the iOS iPod, in an effort to sell more of them. ALL of the previous iPod touches were ****, basically deformed cousins of the iPhone. Finally they have their own identity, and you people are buttmad/jealous that the iPhone 5 didn't come in colors.

$300 entrance fee is as much troublesome for customers as for Apple. There goes hope for reasonably priced iPad mini. Apple knows they're stretching. Hence the gimmicks like more colors and the strap.

Apple has significantly updated the iPod Touch and you conclude that they're "stretching"?

If anything, Apple is differentiating the iPod Touch from the other i-devices. That to me is encouraging since it means that they'll continue to offer a non-phone personal iOS device.

If the new iPod Touch used the old-style connector, I'd be all over it.

I don't really care for the pastel colors, but the silver and black work just fine for me. Don't have any plans on buying one though. My 4 GB silver mini works just fine parked in my alarm clock.

Signs of serious trouble at Apple? lol, Apple stock hitting a record $700 a share the other day, definitely not a sign Apple is in any kind of trouble.

A 32GB iPod Touch has always been $299. And if someone wants something more affordable, they can get a 4th generation touch for $100 cheaper, which is still a great product in it's own right.
