Ummm, i think i am pretty dumb here, but i have ask, how do i change my file from MP3 to ACC and when you say remane with MR4 how do i do that?

I'm pretty sure that at the top of the itunes there is a drop down bar for tools that has in it the ability to change to ACC. It is in one of those drop down bars next to file not sure which one. For renaming the file open up the file where all your songs are and there are drop down bars or you might have to write click in the file not sure. I think in the options one if you click on it someone where in there it will ask you if you want to show extentions click yes or unclick.

Seriously what I would do if you want ringtones go to this website audiko.net/en.html here you can customize your own ringtones. It walks you through the process.

Increasing volume?

I'm on a Mac, using iTunes 7.7.1. I have a bunch of MIDI files that I have used as ringtones on other phones. When I convert these to AAC directly in iTunes, the volume is way low, some -37dB. I convert it to mp3 in iTunes, then use Amadeus Pro to normalize it, the volume improves significantly. But it's still only half the volume of the preloaded ringtones. Does anyone have an idea what I can do to further increase the volume of the file? Amadeus Pro is supposed to be able to do it, but I haven't had success with that.

Thanks.

Again, with the volume

Okay, I tried a different tack. I used a different MIDI, used Amadeus Pro to normalize to RMS instead of peak, and got a lot more volume out of it. I pulled the mp3 into iTunes, it showed a volume of +2.9dB. When I converted that to AAC, the resulting file had a volume of -13.8dB. How do I counteract iTunes' volume reduction?

Thanks.

Volume: OK

Ah, as it turns out, the RMS normalized files have quite sufficient volume...

I have been wondering the same thing! anyone?

Does anyone know if you can set up your SMS alerts in the same way (with obviously a smaller clip or mp3 sound) ??

If you have Windows you need (or at least I use) WinSCP (which is free) and I believe your iPhone needs to be jailbroken for this to work (because you need BSD subsystem and SSH installed). Here's the link for how to connect to WinSCP with your iPhone.

http://limitededitioniphone.com/windows-guide-to-using-winscp-with-iphone/

Next you need to locate this folder section:
/System/Library/Audio/UISounds/

The file names for the SMS tones are:
sms-received1.caf
sms-received2.caf
sms-received3.caf
sms-received4.caf
sms-received4.caf
sms-received6.caf

You need to convert your audio file into an AIFF file (which iTunes can do) and then rename that into a .caf file named "sms-received#" (with # being either 1-6). Just delete (or backup) the old .caf file from the iPhone and then add your new one. The name on the SMS ringtone list will stay the same and as far as I know there's no way to change that.

There may be another way on the PC that doesn't require the BSD/SSH things installed, but that's the way I always did it.

Go to this website http://audiko.net/en.html then all you have to do is search for the ringtone you are looking for. After clicking on the song it will ask you where you want to download it to pick the second choice dealing with itunes no mp3's It will then show up in the ringtones sections in itunes then plug your phone in and it should transfer it there.

W.O.W.

Thanks for sharing!

Since 2.1 whenever I create a new ringtone to add, my phone will sync the same song mulitple times. For instance I'll create 4 ringtones and add them to the ringtones on my phone but after it syncs it will have the same song 4 times.

Anyone know a way around this? Or is anyone else having the same problem?

ringtone will not appear in iPhone 3g (version 2.1)

Hi,
I am trying to load a simple phone ring to my iPhone. I followed all the instructions. I was able to see the "phone ring" ringtone under the Ringtones in iTunes but it would not appear in iPhone when synced. The ringtone is 6 seconds long just a normal phone ring.
I would appreciate some help.
Thanks.

It worked as soon as I filled in the artist, album info in iTunes. It transfered.

Now can someone point me to a site that has normal phone rings for download.

Thanks

Just wondering, I almost sent a ringtone to my phone but I'm a little wary of receiving a bunch of spam texts/calls afterwards. Is this one of those sites that does that, have you had much experience with these guys?

My phone is has 2.0.1. If I update it, will my ringtones (that I got from audiko) be erased? Im kinda scared to do since I really dont wanna lose all of them.

CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS FOR US PLEASE? I FIND MYSELF HAVING THE SAME DILEMMA... WILL THE RINGTONES BE DELETED IF I UPGRADE THE FIRMWARE TO 2.1? AND ALSO WILL I STILL BE ABLE TO USE AUDIKO.NET TO GET NEW ONES IF I MAKE THAT UPDATE?

THANKS

I didn't have that problems so everything should be fine. The same ringtone formats are used for the 2.1 so there shouldn't be any problem and yes audiko will still work. Everything worked fine for me. You shouldn't have any problems.

This is awesome!! Thanks a lot. A question: is there any sort of MP3 file (any high quality, low quality, volume, etc.) that will be harmful to the little iPhone speakers? I think when I used MP3 ringtones on my Razr way back, they blew out parts of the speaker...or maybe just my imagination.
