We have one(tv) DVR box for Comcast and can basically replicate the tv watching experience, including access to dvr recordings, on any device with the Xfinity stream app or web browser. There isn’t an Xfinity app for my Apple TV but trough the Xfinity authentication process I can watch recent episodes through the actual TV stations app(Fox, nbc, abc etc) at no additional cost. Because of this I haven’t tried air playing from my device to the Apple TV.

For my situation this is a better solution although I can’t imagine 6 TVs needing all of these features at the same time.

Basically Vue (and others like YouTube TV) lets you have 6 user profiles, each with their own favorite channels/shows and DVR catalog. My household of 6 is nearly all Apple (only a few Android devices) so I have several Apple TVs and a PS4 (I don't prefer sticks, but if I were to set up the hypothetical scenario, sticks would work fine with Vue and be much less expensive than an AppleTV in every room). But 6 people accessing their own DVRs from any TV or iPad or mobile device, with no limitations of recording X, Y, Z shows while watching A, B, C shows in other rooms while also accessing DVRs on the road (or at lunch), is something Comcast can't match for the price. Vue also authenticates through the same TV station apps (Vue is part of TV Everywhere, as well as SSO for tvOS and iOS). So you get all of the same features of Comcast/Xfinity, plus additional features (multiple profiles with DVR), without any hardware leases or needing to have that "one box" somewhere in the house. I can get any internet provider I want and keep all of that personalized entertainment compatible with all of the hardware I already own. Eventually I might have 6 Apple TVs around the house, or the PS Vue / YouTube TV App might be available on the TV itself. But I won't go back to Comcast right now, there are just too many better and more flexible options out there.

What’s your monthly fee for the PS vue again including your monthly internet service? Also does it include local sports?

Internet is as low as $20/mo for 100mbps
For the past year I had the highest tier on PSVue at a promotional price - $55/mo included HBO/SHO + sports. Before that it was $65. I dropped it beginning this month for non-budget reasons. Current price would keep me under $100/mo for everything.

Heading to xfinity to see what the latest deals are. I doubt there’s a $20 for 100 mbps deal.

This is about as good as it gets with Comcast in my neck of the woods. Hard to beat a $20 a month internet fee with that speed.

Seems like prices vary wildly all over the country. I pay $75 a month for 150 Mbps here in SoCal for FIOS from Frontier (used to be Verizon). My only other choice is Spectrum which is awful in my area.

So with the 60mbps package at about $67 (plus tax) and the ps vue package with sports being at about $45(plus tax) I feel like I’m getting a lot more at around $110 a month for my 150mbps + cloud dvr + on demand shows/movies. Or at least that seems like my best option in my area.

That $20 is with autopay, ecobill, and a 12-month agreement credits, no hardware rentals, and this area happened to be min-50mbps before Xfinity doubled everyone's speed base. I'm sure it's not true 100mbps, but every time I check fast.com or similar I'm getting 80s/90s on wifi.

ETA - the trick was to get the customer service rep to only offer you internet deals, but they always advertise bundles with tv channels included (even on what should be just internet service). They will likely have a $25-$30/mo option, before the credits or agreement, and without any channels, but they don't talk about it.

And to my last point, my set up also considers that I also get OTA using my computer + antenna. Guide, DVR, and live TV. Covers the basics at zero monthly fee, with apps for all of my devices. That was my go-to after cutting the cord with comcast, before Vue. My area happened to be pretty lucky geographically for all of those options - strong free signal and basically all OTT services had locals available. Since I subscribed to Vue, they really seemed to get better and expand. I could probably move this exact setup to Raleigh, NC or Cleveland, OH and get a similar deal from Time Warner or Cox for internet and use all of the same hardware I already own.

Yeah I honestly believe $20 a month in any situation for anything close to that speed is as rare as att’s grandfathered iPhone unlimited plan. Is that plan available right now if you didn’t already have it?

In my area about $67 is the lowest and att is priced at around that too but with a lot slower speeds.

Most cable cutters I see post don’t mention this cost.
My internet is through DSL. It is $49.99 per month for reasonable bandwidth. Cable alone was nearly $100 per month. So that cost went away. My cord cutting, cost-wise, has been a wash, but the major difference is that I cut the cord 4 years ago. I know the cable service bill would have gone up since then, and for me, I pretty much have 99%+ on demand access to the shows I choose to watch. No DVR, and that access can be from home or anywhere on my devices. I was able to make a clean break from the cable company.
