You may have to understand “other” factors, because many are at play.View attachment 1707316
In response to reasoning that “they were old/sick and would have died anyway”.
First, Florida is NOT Taiwan. Florida can’t be controlled the same way, it’s more spread out, and is MUCH more culturally diverse. The government operates differently and is far less authoritarian. This matters when you try to control people. You might like this level of control, but it doesn’t exist, for a reason, in America.
Second, Florida’s population over 65 is higher, 21% versus 14%. Old people are far more impacted by this.
Third, the reporting coming out of Asia is questionable at best. If you believe it at face value, more power to you.
Fourth, reporting methodologies can vary dramatically and the amount of testing can also vary. It was reported Japan literally stopped testing. According to NYTimes:
Japan went its own way, limiting tests to only the most severe cases as other countries raced to screen as many people as possible. Medical experts worried that the approach would blind the country to the spread of infection, allowing cases to explode and swamping hospitals. It hasn't happened.
For this reason, you can’t just compare numbers like it’s apples to apples.
