App worked well. Everything went through without a hitch. What I got probably goes without saying.

LOL... that plan quickly went out the window!

Some of us intentionally avoided the browser and relied on the app instead. Learned that from the old iPhone days. The app loads faster and cleaner.
Problem was, the app also had the same problems too. If Apple attempted this shutdown-less preorder window, more people would be in an uproar. Just glad to was just for an ATV for me. If I was the dude with the 3 iPad Pros here, I would have been ticked if I kept getting “product not available”, even on the app.

Can confirm: was able to order an iPad through the app. It was suffering a bit from some availability quirks and not always letting me add to cart (or would say it replaced items in cart due to availability) but in the end it worked.

May 27 is then earliest stated arrival date for my confit in Canada. (12.5/256/5G/Silver.)
Quoting myself from other forum thread. Same issues as others report, but got my order through in the end ~5-10 into the hour.

12.9 iPad, ATV4k and iMac 24 512gb 16gb ordered. Expensive day. Not sure if I should order new magic keyboard or see how well last years works. New keyboard shipping quickly and return time may eclipse the shipping of new iPad.

Tried using the app and safari and couldn't get in to get it until 8:10a. Whenever I would add to the bag and go to checkout the order was missing. June 9-23 for iPad Pro 12.9 1TB cellular.. smdh
Yeah, that’s what I got too.

Really wanted a yellow iMac but after three failed attempts with the not available errors, I ordered a blue one. That went through with shipping date in early June. I went back again and tried to order a yellow one and it went through with shipping May 21! I now have a yellow and a blue on order with a few days to figure out which to cancel.

I'm guessing this situation is why they shut down the store before big launches. I presume they were trying a new process here and it appears to have not gone as planned, judging from these comments. Strange that there was no time given for the start of sales as has been done in the past. I don't think anyone minds the store being shut down for a couple of hour in the early morning US time if it avoids some of the sync hassles that I presume happened here.

I had a Walmart gift card so I preordered a 64GB Apple TV. My delivery status is May 27th.

I'm torn on the 12.9 M1 iPad Pro since I want to step up from my 10.5" Pro. But I was hoping at least for touchID in addition to FaceID, not to mention all this bonkers power hampered down by iPadOS.

Secured the M1 5G iPad Pro 12.9 1 TB (Space Gray)! Threw in a White Magic Keyboard too. Going to give my current 12.9 iPad Pro (3rd Gen) to my sister.

Man the store was wild...
spammed the F5 for about 15 minutes and the product just failed to go into the shopping cart.

After 20 minutes of fighting the website, I managed to get myself a nice Apple TV 4K.

I'm preparing for the WWDC 2021, which is going to be even wilder

What is a potentially better way for Apple to do this pre-order thing?

Brutal solutions include:
Placing a $100 fee for a first-day pre-order would rapidly quiet down the rush, thin out the herd, if you will.
