Fell back asleep after I only set 1 alarm (what was i thinking) the iPad 1tb slipped back to June.

By the time I got past all of the errors regarding “item no longer available”, my iPad slipped to June 9th-June 23rd.
The higher capacity models started with later shipping dates. As of now it’s still possible to get the 128GB 12.9” model with a May 21-28 delivery window.

(2) iPad Pros, 512 GB, WIFI ordered. One for hubby, one for me. If you get an “item not available error”, just keep trying to add it to your bag. It did that on both of my orders but they went through after a few tries of clicking add to bag.

I raise my glass to you. You have my condolences. Never imagined it would slip to June 23 on the first day. The first day!

What country are you in, perchance?

Ordered the new Apple TV. Our cable package contract ends next May and we're going streaming only so this way each of our TVs will have an Apple TV 4K streaming box.

What is a potentially better way for Apple to do this pre-order thing?

Brutal solutions include:
Placing a $100 fee for a first-day pre-order would rapidly quiet down the rush, thin out the herd, if you will.
Maybe they could do that by calling it a Super-Pre-order. But if they are just looking for less demand all at once, I think they could separate their releases a little more. Make an entire week out of the release: iMac on Monday, Apple TV on Tuesday, Accessories Wednesday, Ipad Thursday...

Don't Apple verify education discounts anymore? I order Mac's and iPad's using education discounts as my wife is a teacher but they don't seem to care about any additional verification anymore?

they never did, as far as I know. Maybe years ago they did?

Also traded in my 12.9 pro 3rd gen 64gb and got $535 from Apple on a new 12.9 Pro. Could have probably low $600’s on eBay, but after ebays high fees, probably be about same. This was so much less hassle.

I have an iPad to trade in that I was hoping to do in store. A shame that it’s only available for delivery, and in-store pickup doesn’t seem to be an option. Just thinking about the article about the horror stories of trading in with Apple recently.

agreed, way less hassle, don't have to deal with scammers (yes I got a scammer who bought my MBP. Was a nightmare to work through)

definitely could've gotten way more than that if sold locally. recently sold my 2020 11" pro for $700

In the UK you go via Unidays website which will have verified you already, this allows you into the Apple education store.

I bought the iMac on the Education store. The price up front was like $100 cheaper. And then the upgrades were $180 to go up to the next level instead of $200... I believe. No discount on numeric keyboard upgrade or mouse/trackpad that I noticed.

Edit: I guess you were asking about Verification. I mean I probably verified it years ago. I also used a .edu email for checkout and logging in.

They randomly verify in North America. They do order audits sporadically. This is mentioned in the terms and conditions.
