I hope it wasn't some white-background wtith a person talking how great macs are with goofy music in the background. Actually SHOW some of OS X!

The timing isn't the greatest -- the "Mac Virus" story is currently #1 on Yahoo news' "most popular" list.

But the ad. It was knock out. Especially the crashing bit.

And I think the "14,000 peecee viruses (viri?)" still stacks up pretty poorly against a suspect "1" for OS X.

Where are the techies to tell me I've miscounted my OS X viri? Viruses?

I doubt it. For Fox to air it during May sweeps during prime time, by mistake? That would mean one really unhappy airtime purchaser who didn't get an ad shown and one unhappy Apple who had an ad aired prematurely (of course, they wouldn't be too upset - especially if their ad airs at the right time tomorrow). That would not end pretty for Fox.
Probably not. (Yet Amazon's screwup comes to mind...)

Viruses.

I'm not so sure it's wise to play the no-viruses card, especially since there was one piece of malware just a couple of months ago that a normal user would consider to be a virus.

And I thought an Apple exec (Schiller, perhaps) stated on the record a little while ago that Apple wouldn't produce such ads because they didn't want to appear overconfident about Mac OS X's security or encourage virus writers to give it their best shot. Guess this is their way of saying "BRING IT!"

I'm watching fox - muting while S.W.A.T. is on and turning the sound on when it's commercials.

I don't have anything against S.W.A.T., but I just don't watch TV... ever.

Considering this commercial has only been out a matter of hours it seems to be on a wide variety of channels. (That's a good thing). :)

I was thinking about that. But, I figure that a reseller mistake like that isn't going to get that much attention - I mean how many people really would have noticed (outside of the MR type folk)? But, airing the ad on national TV could throw off Apple. Although, from what I can tell in the descriptions given here, nothing new was shown (a la MB). So, if the ad was aired mistakenly, and it airs again at the proper time, then there is no harm. Plus, these multiple airings can't all be mistakes...So, I guess I can stop talking about this.

In the mean time, what's taking people so long in getting it posted or hosted ;):D

Ya, once I saw it happening on multiple channels I realized it wasn't a mistake.

I just hope this is related to the release of the MacBook in some way.

Just saw a 2nd commercial, with the PC guy bragging about how iTunes works with Windows, and the Mac guy suggesting he try out the rest of iLife. PC guy says he has cool apps, too, like Calculator.
Funny. Less controversial than the virus bit. I hope they have a series of 4 or 5 of these.

Yeah, that was kind of retarded. I'm a fan of the "Mac" from his character on the NBC show Ed, but other than that...really not that impressed. It doesn't showcase anything of substance (not that being virus free isn't anything of substance) but instead of accentuating the negative, lets look at all the COOL things the Mac can do.
