The new Mac Pro is "NEVER" coming out.

Apple has discontinued all of it's computer lines including the iMac and ALL laptops.
They have finally listened to consumer complaints that those products are simply too difficult to strap onto the arm while exercising.

any pictures of that ?

:D

I found this official leaked Apple website photo on my computer.

Two optical drives! Going back to PPC!

I bet nobody saw that coming...Apple's always one step ahead of the game.

what's funny is this: if apple released this product for real into the market, there are people on this forum who would swear it was the best thing since the ipod and get furious at anyone who suggested it might not be the perfect product for every use.

Of course. It's Apple they can do no wrong. Honestly I hope Apple's big announcement is that they are porting Mac OS X over to the PC, so I can get a real workstation from Dell or HP and an Alienware 17" laptop. I could only dream about the sweet systems that would become available if Jobs did that. Not that the current stuff isn't nice, just that every once in a while I would love to have a laptop with 2 HDDs and 2 GFX cards and a 9 pound weight.

From Engadget moments ago:

Macbook ultraportable and Penryn Mac Pro due for Macworld, 3G iPhone in June?

"We've taken a "don't stop believing" approach to Apple ultraportable rumors up to this point, and there's no reason to think these "fresh" predictions from CNBC's Jim Goldman are anything different, but they at least serve as a nice refresher in the lead up to Macworld in January. Goldman predicts the new Pro laptop will be half the thickness of the MacBook Pro, the hard disk will be replaced with NAND storage, and Apple will be selling the thing for $1,500 -- the same price the black MacBook currently goes for. He's purportedly citing sources that claim to have seen the product, and says that the laptop is supposedly due to show up at Macworld. Jim's sources also say that the 3G iPhone is supposed to hit shelves by late May or early June of next year, which beats out some industry predictions of a late '08 release.

Of course, since it's just a month before Macworld, it's about time the rumor mill heated up a little beyond incessant Macbook and iPhone rumorings, and MacBidouille is stepping up to stoke the flames. The French rag is claiming that the Mac Pro will get bumped to an 3.2GHz eight-core Penryn setup (totally believable) featuring NVIDIA QuadroFX graphics (sure) with a BTO Blu-ray burner available (maybe), and that DVD Studio Pro will be renamed Disk Studio Pro and refocused on BD authoring (another definite maybe). On top of that, MacBidouille also claims that OS X 10.5.2 will be released, and that it will be "the largest and most important intermediate system update ever released by Apple." We're a little less sure we buy that, but as always, only time and Steve will tell."

DVD Studio Pro will be renamed Disk Studio Pro and refocused on BD authoring (another definite maybe).

That won't happen. I'd put money on that. Apple didn't bother updating DVD Studio Pro when they went from Final Cut Studio 1 --> FCS2 so why put out a minor update now and rename it?

But then again Apple has done other ignorant things, like that iMac slim aluminum keyboard, that have been a waste of resources.

Okay, I listened to the podcast and the quote is more along the lines "Visiting Apple wasn't the reason I went to Cupertino, the reason I went I can't talk about until December 11. I'm really excited about the next two months..."

So it sounds more like she went to Cupertino for another reason and decided to stop off while she was there (Ie. Apple wasn't her reason for being there)... but... I could see reading something into that. That's about the best thing I've heard to a rumor.

Anyways, we can see what happens on Dec. 11, but I'm skeptical.

Hmm, non apple related and still kept quiet...

Terrorism.

The numbers of MacBooks and iMacs sold seem to differ from your point of view.

I actually much prefer the slim keyboard over the old one.

Ironically, that keyboard is my favorite new Apple product release since the original Mac Pro.

I LOVE the wired version.

The only thing that would make it better would be if it could power USB devices that connect to it. It doesn't even try to power more than a mouse. My card reader (only compact flash) gave me the "low USB power" warning and wouldn't mount when connected through the new keyboard.

But I love the feel of the "macbook-like" keys and the solid, thin aluminum plate design.

Al keyboard

I also really like the new thin aluminum keyboard. I was going to order a couple for my Powermac G4 and Imac G4. But since I won't be using either once I get my new Mac Pro, my wife and kids can use the old keyboards. They could probably care less anyways.

I would be very surprised with the name change. Especially for something as terrible as Disk Studio Pro (ack, not very Apple-like). But I wouldn't be surprised with an update that gave Blu-Ray support (and hopefully HD-DVD too). DVDSP really got shafted in the the FCS2 update, so hopefully they'll tag this on.

Geez, I wonder how big of a download that would be....

Has anyone released a set of color coded Final Cut keys for the new aluminum keyboards? Is it possible, or would you have to use some lame stickers?

That was hilarious.

Okay, okay, I went too far with the keyboard, leftover angst I guess. :D

But I seriously doubt they will rename DVDSP, they may provide an update, but renaming it won't make much of a difference. And certainly not Disk Studio Pro.

Appleinsider claims that the updated MP is coming in MWSF, not the 11th day. Sorry guys :(

Yeah and they're always right.

And Appleinsider isn't claiming anything. They are regurgitating the French site Macbidoulle's rumor.

Terrorism.

Believe it or not, there are other tech companies in Cupertino!

And if Cali was invited to Apple for a demo of the new systems, why wouldn't other internet news sites and podcasters have been invited? Also, Cali covers ALL gadgets, not just Apple hardware.

Well, I am sure that a lot of people aren't buying the machines based on their keyboards alone. ;)

That leads me to another thing that has been swishing around in my head. Will Apple give the new slim keyboard on the pro machines, or will they stick to the original keyboard? Personally, it doesn't really matter to me, as I will be using my original keyboard with FCP keys installed, but I am curious to see if Apple offers a somewhat flimsy keyboard with their pro machines.

I wish apple would make a ergo keyboard again, I switched to one and find it does releieve a lot of pressure for those that type all day.

Why sorry? That's great to know. It means a new Mac Pro will make its debut in the greatest expo of the Apple world and not be relegated to a mere footnote in the annals of the company.

But I may still be disappointed if they don't do to it what I think they should. ;)
