Sorry, but this whole "I'm a Mac, and PC's stink" ads are so old and childish...

I've heard suggestions from a billion posters suggesting they show OS X...I just don't think that would soak in to the audience, most of the stuff we do in OS X can be done in Vista. Apple is trying to get it out there that OS X doesn't crash and Vista is a pain in the ass to deal with and the services they offer to ease people from PC->Mac.

I am surprised that Apple would actually run the "Pizza Box" ad with their buy a Mac and get a free iPod touch promotion for college students, it just seems ironic.

Not ironic....it's total hypocrisy. Apple bundle things with their machines ( iLife for example ) and often do big promotions like back-to-school.

The adverts stopped being funny years ago. Now they're just embarrassing and are beginning to re-enforce many of the utterly false pc/mac difference claims that blinkered fanboys try to pedal. A pity that with all the creativity of Cupertino, still all they can do is predominantly negative marketing

Though I understand the objections, I like the ads in general. But this group wasn't up to par.

"Throne" was the best because it gave new and helpful information. Plus the "I banish you. You are banished" was pretty funny. :D

Other than that, I still much prefer some of the older ones.

What about Calming iTeas for Leopard users, frustrated by sluggish performance, jittery window animation and freezing mouse pointer bug on Mac mini?
Will they be available in Apple Stores? ;)

I didn't think any of them were to hilarious, except for the pizza box. How John Hodgeman says "eat me" at the end...
throne was just lame though

I don't think they've been funny for a while.
More like 'Point Made. Can we please do something else now?'

Personally I thought both the Pizza one and the Throne one were hilarious.

"Eat me, I'm a delicious pizza."

"I banish you. You are banished."

Just awesome :D

Pizza Box and Throne were great.

Calming Teas is bullsh't because Leopard crashes a lot more than Vista.

Rather than putting out ads attacking Microsoft's faults, Apple should put out an ad apologizing for MobileMe and for the fact that my MacBook's fan is so loud and constantly overheating and crashing despite having been sent to Flextronics multiple times.

It wouldn't sell computers, but it would earn my respect. ;)

I think you missing the fact of a Television Ad. It is to sell their products... Besides these TV Adds didn't talk about MobileMe or even say their hardware is better then PCs. It is a TV Ad! It is going to be one sided. Duh!

These ads are actually one of the reasons I'm resisting getting a Mac. Apple comes across as a very smug and arrogant company. Also, I think the message of "You're cool if you get a Mac, but you're a nerd if you use Windows" is childish and annoying.

fighting back as if you were the under-dog only works while you actually are. Leave the sales volumes aside, Apple are in the driving seat in terms of how people perceive them and has to take an initiative here to start selling their products based on how good they are rather than how bad Microsoft is.

But they work. I can't tell you how many people came into the Apple Store I worked at just to have a look--based solely on those ads.

"Those commercials are the best."

Atleast the pizza box and throne one promote some of mac's features. I think it is best when they show what apple can do, bash windows, and have it be funny all in the same ad.

This is true, I never knew until seeing the ad that you could take your PC into an Apple Store and have them transfer all your files.

I wonder if that includes porn :D

I think these ads are far more clever than people assume. There's some subtle and not-so-subtle psychological prompting going on. There's a shift in how PC is presented with these ads - it's like he's tired and actually given up. Follows Microsoft admitting that the campaign had an effect on the perception of Vista.

I've never heard of Engadget referred to in that way. Is that where you send everyone you consider a misfit?

Don't worry - if there's any justice in the world Santa will stop by Engadget (aka the island of misfits ;) ) and give you brand new MB's! :)

In my experience it's quite the opposite. I, honestly, can't recall the last time Leopard crashed on my 12" PB. In fact I don't know if it ever has. Now compare that to my Windows box - takes an eon to start up even tho all the hardware runs circles around my PB and still freezes and craps out on occasion. I don't do that much with my Windows box but the experience is still annoying. Not to mention I had to buy a new audio card because a required Vista update killed it (I tried reverting to the old driver, uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, forcing the BIOS to use the onboard audio - basically everything I could think of and nothing...)
