Now I can understand that no company is perfect, but honestly the yellow tint issue on the macs have been horrible, I've heard a lot of people replacing macs more then a few times without any luck.. I've personally had 3 imacs in the past.. 20" imac 2.66GHZ had one dead pixel, sold that last year, got new 21.5" imac it had yellow tint & 3 dead pixels, I got a replacement, now this one has more noticeable yellow tint and 4-5 dead pixels. =/

So in other words with all the Macs I have owned including my parents iMac G5 has had some sort of issues with the screen..

I have had no issues yet, 13". So far it is the best and fastest (at least in everyday usage) computer I have ever owned. So far I am extremely happy.:D

Sorry to hear there are issues. This seems to be the case more and more with Apple lately. They need more beta testing and quality control.

So last six months-

iPhone 4- proximity issues and grip-off-death
iPhoto '11- there go your pictures
iOS- alarms going off at wrong time
MacBook Air- suffering panic attacks

Go Apple.

My guess-

"We don't see functioning logic boards taking off right now.

-Sent from my iPhone"

So where are you now looking for your bug-free software?

There not bugs, they are major bollock droppings

Boy, the Apple defenders are coming out in full force. People, 1 week of use doesn't tell that everything is okay (for those not (yet) affected). First it was the hinge problem (this was on the earlier airs-Apple should have fixed this) and now it's the logic board. In a year, I can see it now, ebay is inundated with mbas that have faulty logic boards; unfortunately, the warranty has run out and the buyers are out of luck. It's pretty expensive to replace the logic board.

That cute little laptop isn't so cute after all...

I was going to buy an MBA 11'' 2GB version but now after reading all this i'm kind of disappointed :(

Questions need asking...

I am disappointed with this news. I was looking to buy an Air very soon. This news has put me off. It has also made me think back over the past 10 years of Macs.

Please fill in anything i may have missed...

1. iMac SL - Black screen issue if firmware not updated prior to upgrading to OS X. No easy user solution.

2. eMac - Logicboard (capacitor) issue. Too-short video cable.

3. iBook G3 - GFX BGA separation. Backlight cable problems.

4. iBook G4 - VRAM chip separation. Battery recall.

5. PowerBook G4 - Screen issue, lower RAM slot failure and battery recall. Titanium hinges!!!

6. iMac G5 - Logicboard (capacitor) issue. GFX failure.

7. PMG4 MDD - Hoover like fan problems. PSU and fan replacement programme.

8. PMG5 - Fan speed issue. Major LCS issues. Power Supply issues.

9. iMac iSight - GFX failure.

10. iMac Intel - LCD failures.

11. MacBook - Logicboard and battery failure.

12. MacBook Pro - GFX issue and worst battery every made.

13. Time Capsule - Power Supply (capacitor) failure.

14. MacBook Air - unconfirmed issue.

15. iMac 27" - I own one and it is about to get its 3rd LCD panel due to yellowing.

What have i missed?

This is quite a list for a company that claims to create the best products and states that they cannot make things any cheaper etc etc.

What has happend with Apple? It seems like every product they release has issues.

Show me an electronics company that releases product with no issues. You wont be able to. Why? Because electronics are by their nature, complicated, and as a result, there are quite a number of tiny things that can go wrong that can make a product unusable, and they often do. Apple actually has a pretty good track record, but keep in mind, the only news you're going to get from reports is going to be bad news, with a few random people who feel like posting how much they loved their product. Wait till we get an actual failure rate from Apple before we jump to conclusions. It seems like Apple can't release a product anymore without people blowing the tiniest problems out of proportion, and quite frankly, it's getting rather annoying. My advice is for MacRumors to be a little bit more picky about which "failure" stories they report. Things like these that are based off of a handful of reports are not what I would call newsworthy, or even something worth wasting your readers' time on.

Honestly I don't see why this made front page news. I saw this guy post this video on YouTube yesterday and yes, he has a legit issue. Just send it back to Apple and get a replacement, is that so hard? Now if after multiple replacements the issue still exists I can understand but does MR has to have an article on front page news for every time someone got a lemon? This was honestly not necessary.

See i agree with you any electronics has issues no matter what manufacturer.
But people get miffed about it because this is apple. the company that has slogans like "it just works" and stands so highly on their design ethic that is "magical" and perfect.
So when you then take that and put it against the issues with their products it makes them look worse then Microsoft who doesn't claim magic but is
relatively as poop or poopier (wth is with censoring ***** :p) with some of their products.
Add to that the fan boys vehemently defending and attacking anything that isn't in line with apple doctrine and combined you get issues.

If you claim big things, you better damn well deliver.
Apple with the last few products at least has not delivered "magic" they promised, but mostly ok products...

well, that's really funny. now all macbooks have unibody construction. so it's tough, rigid ever. but people have still that old problem? I don't get it. of course, my macbook pro has no issue whatsoever. but that's really sucks. next time, I will consider not to buy mac anymore. there are lots of good laptops in the market todays. why is macbook so sensitive? and why people invest more money to buy stuff (accessories) after macbook? I don't invest more than I have now. because I think that's enough. well, good for you who has brand new broken macbook.

oh, I almost forgot to mention something important. Apple mac is actually highly broken rate among other PC makers. do you think that it makes you surprise? there is nothing to surprise. most stable, liable laptops are asus, sony, acer, toshiba. Dell, HP, gateway, apple are highly broken rate.

i had this happen on my macbook a few years back, luckily it was under warranty!

The news is all over Internet. It's not about one "guy". As this thread from Apple support forums indicates, many people experience this problem.

That's where there's Apple care boys and girls! make sure you get the 3 years... it's only like $180 with the student discount!

Flop after flop from Apple's. Knock on wood that my MBP and iPhone 3G still work OK.

Given your claim of a "flop", I would assume you have actual numbers that indicate the failure rate among shipped MBAs?

The fact is that you are basing such a statement off of a handful of reports in this article.

It is about as logical as me claiming, that since a few MR members have posted having no problems with the MBA (me included), it is the best machine ever built.

what do you want.
netbooks are just cheap laptops
macbook airs are just expensive netbooks

Best post of the thread :p

On a serious side, it is a Rev. A. machine after all, so unfortunately that's the risks of buying an apple revision a machine.
