Apple has done this before. A minor spec bump a couple of months before a major update...

Guess waiting for a Retina Air isn't over yet!

A Retina Air has existed since October 2012 when the 13" rMBP was released. Do you realize that the 13" rMBP is only 0.03" thicker than the 13" MBA and weighs only 1/2 lb more? You'll be waiting years to save 3 hundredths of an inch and a half a pound. Never understood the Retina Air desire when you compare it to the rMBP...especially after the price decreases.

Apple hasn't gone Web 2.0 yet?

You don't have to "take down" a website to update product info anymore.

-The purpose of this meeting is to discuss customer demands. We have a large group of people demanding we launch mini tomorrow.
-But we are not even...
-I do not want to hear it. We are launching. And you better be done tomorrow.

Why bother with such a lame update.

You'd rather someone in the market for a new laptop not get the latest hardware just because it isn't a revolutionary update? That's like saying a car manufacturer shouldn't come up with a new year model of a car just because the only thing changing in it is a bit better fuel efficiency.

pointless update. people want retina display, not insignificant speed bump.

And you know this update means no retina display? My guess is it will be a silent update, not something Apple will make a big deal about. Plus a MBA with retina would be saved for an event, not launched on a random Tuesday.

I doubt any event time would be given to announcing an Air with a Retina display. It's "common" tech now.

You don't have to "take down" a website to update product info anymore.

The online Apple Store is more than just a website, its a complex piece of machinery. Plus, taking it down helps to build anticipation of what's new.
