New Macbook Case Thread

Just received the PochetteGavotte sleeve I ordered. Feels like a cushion for my Macbook and it fits perfectly ! :D

I picked up the incase icon tensaerlite for mine in the UK today - there's a long wait for the official 12in macbook version, but the 11in macbook air fits very well (just a little bit wider, but grips the macbook well and is secure); nice, slim, well protected sleeve, just what I was looking for.

EDIT Found the 12in version in another Apple store, so will be taking the 11in version back; but in a pinch it would have done just fine.

Worldwide same week releases are very common for tech (in the first world) these days but we get the accessories very late, anyway I'm going on but it's just something that bugs me.

The 11in air version is a pretty good fit...

Thanks, I was looking on the online apple store a couple of days ago and it wasn't listed. £59.95 here though when it's $59.99 in the US, I just checked currency converter and that's around £38, I can't believe how much we get ripped off here. I'll buy it anyway though :D

Thanks for letting me know but I won't be spending £59.95 on a case that isn't a perfect fit.

I went for Charcoal and I think I was right to do so because IRL, it's darker than on the pictures, so black would have been way too dark for me. It has a blueish/dark-grey shade depending on the light. My sleeve is like my SG Macbook and its changing colors with the light :D

I was afraid it would be too thick or not straight enough because of the foam, but it's very well-made. The foam is approximatively 5mm thick, so the sleeve is around 1cm thick. It's not neoprene but it's enough in my opinion to protect my Macbook from the stuff in my school bag.

THat's fair enough; it's not cheap, I agree. As a postscript to this, I've just found the 12in version in the Apple Store in Westfield White City; it's a marginally better fit, so I will be taking the 11in air back after all. Anyway - point is, there ARE already 12in macbook versions in UK retail stores.

PS don't forget when comparing UK to US that their sales tax is not included in the ticket price, because it varies from state to state; and US salary rates are lower too.
 
Sorry to flood the thread; just noticed an interesting phenomenon... Because the Icon sleeve closes with a magnet, it can inadvertently send the Macbook to sleep if you rest the laptop on top of the sleeve while using it - I guess the magnet triggers the 'lid close' switch in the laptop somehow.

Would it still happen if you were using an app like caffeine or NoSleep?

Not sure, sorry - I don't use either. If they stop the computer from sleeping with the lid closed, I assume so - it only happens if you put the left hand side of the laptop by the screen next to the magnetic strip in the case.

It will turn off the display. I have it and noticed this too. The magnet tells the computer it thinks you closed the laptop so it shuts off the display.

I just set it aside when I'm using it.

Not keen on those snap on ones, prefer a skin. Ordered the glossy one for my iPhone 6, iPhone 6+ and rMB will post some pics up once it arrives and get them fitted.

I have a glossy shield on the top and bottom of my Macbook. I love it. It makes it look shiny and wet, but still protects the major surfaces.

Went to my local apple store which was a zoo as usual.
Had a non existent selection other than an old school neoprene sleeve.
Blasphemy.
Then an attendant offered to check the back and returned with both colours of the Incase icon sleeve,grey and black.
Ofcourse to match my space grey 1.3g (although it's vinyl wrapped) I grabbed the grey one.
Not bad for 70 bucks so I have something to just toss in the briefcase.

The string is sewed to the interior of the sleeve and is kind of loose (you don't have to pull like an elastic), so there is no pressure on the button when the sleeve is "closed". It won't make the button pop ;)

I like how you can't really tell the rMB color watching the pictures, unless you know what model it is :) (if you didn't say, I would think it was a golden rMB)
