How are you 2 getting on with these? I'm looking to go backpacking around and want something protective for my 12" MacBook but fits easily in a rucksack. Anything better than this?

I love mine. I think the selling point of the Viper case is that it can hold more than just the MacBook. It holds my MacBook, iPad mini 4, and iPhone 6. It does offer good protection and padding regardless but there are slimmer cases if you don't want the extra storage.

I'm curious about this sleeve, too. I'm looking for a clean / black / basic neoprene to go with my BestSkinsEver skin decal.

Do not buy that Amazon sleeve. I bought it and it's too sloppy, too much wiggle room inside, it's not designed for the RMB specifically so it does not fit right.

Spend the money and get the Incase Icon Sleeve for the 12" MacBook. Not only does it fit like a glove but it has a special material around the end that acts like a bumper and a magnetic clasp that makes it extremely easy to get in/out, no zipper to slow you down.

I do admit that I did not sift through each and every post in this thread, but the search function was of no help.

I'm looking for a transport case for the rMB12, which is absolutely inflexible. The usual sleeves and cases may protect against dings and scratches, but not against pressure.

My use case is transporting the 12" rMB in a Rucksack (with a dedicated bag for notebooks). Until now I put it in a standard sleeve before placing it in the Rucksack.

When the Rucksack is pretty full, the rMB may get squeezed in the middle of the screen, which lets the keys make contact with the screen in the slightly bent lid. On my former rMB that lead to ugly imprints on the screen from the keycaps, which could not be removed anymore.

Therefore I'd now like to have some case that withstands pressure, so the lid of the MacBook does not get pressed against the keys. I don't mind some bulk, but would prefer not to add kgs of weight obviously.

I don't even have an idea which search term to use in Google, as a "hard case" normaly is still too flexible to prevent the lid and keyboard getting pressed together.

Hope that makes sense and would appreciate any hints!

Thanks for all your feedback! As of now, it seems to become a duel between the Gauntlet Sleeve and the Peli 1075cc. Only gripe so far is size, as neither seems to provide a good fit for the 12". I'll check whether I can solve that by adding some foam to the cases.

I have the Thule Gauntlet 3.0 sleeve for my rmb12. The fit is perfect. It doesn't add any unnecessary bulk more than what's needed. My version of the Gauntlet is an envelope kind of sleeve without the extra padding on the inside. I've looked at the new Gauntlet and it looks really nice. It has some extra sturdiness thanks to the padding. It weights a bit more than my sleeve, but if I where to buy a new case that really protects the laptop from impact I would definitely go for the new Thule :)
