What about the Intel's Nehalem stuff? CPU's and Mobos in early October according to http://www.digitimes.com/mobos/a20080724PD205.html

How it will affect Apple and possible hardware refresh? Any thoughts?
Those are the high-end desktop versions of Nehalem. The mobile version, which Apple will use for their notebooks, is not expected until Q3 2009.

you will not see nehalem in laptops during 2008.
Except maybe in those 3" 20 lb. monster laptops.:D

hmmm.

Am I wrong, or is it safe to say that Apple keeps the main page of their website consistent for an average of two weeks before changing it to something new?

If so, today (the 25th) marks exactly two weeks since the iPhone main page ad has been up on the website, and it is time for a change! New MacBooks, anyone???

I am hoping the update is this Tuesday, but I can survive a few more weeks. I just need to get it before I have to leave for college!

HAHA!! thanks for the laugh. I think thats a bit of a stretch. Yo ushould get out more instead of watching the home page change every two weeks.

Steve jobs: Well it has been two weeks time to introduce a new product so i can change the home page...

Last year they changed the website 22 times (excluding the iMac tagline change). Excluding the Al Gore and holiday Mac vs. PC ad bits gives 18 times. If only different products are counted, that's 14 times.

(Excluding Al Gore and holiday Mac vs. PC) Apple can take anywhere from less than a week to over a month to update.

hahaha.... I just think that it's funny that someone just made fun of the guy for paying such close attention to the home page. I was about to say that there are people who keep closer tabs than that, and then I scrolled down and got a laugh!

Now THAT'S what I call being a 'go-to anwser guy'. iMacmatician has got his facts IN ORDER!:D

Yes, my MacBook is well-built machine. I can't speak for every MacBook user but I am sure most MacBooks are like this too.

Indeed..I have Macbook black..very good piece of machinery..and i as well think probably the best macbook available..it's smaller and lighter then the pro but performes better then the air..well designed and a perfect match of both extremes..

Yet another Tuesday has come and still no sign of new MacBooks. Luckily I am going on a cruise so I won't be distracted by all of these rumors for a week...but I hope that when I get back on August 10th there will be a new MacBook, or at the least an announcement of some sort. August 12th is going to probably be my last day to wait until because I leave for college soon after that.

I really hope the new rumors that surfaced are a sign of the new MacBooks coming closer to being revealed, but I also hope that they aren't released in 6-8 weeks, so we'll see! I know I am getting a great machine no matter when I buy.

I was thinking the same thing, if the macbook aren't released next week I'm gonna get the one currently in store. I've heard from Seth Weintraub (from the news discussion) that the macbooks are gonna be release at the end of sept.

What I have also heard about Seth Weintraub is that he is good with his predictions but sometimes does not get the entire thing correct--so he could be correct about the new design but incorrect about the time of release, which is what I am hoping for. But I know that no matter what Apple product I get, I am going to be happy with, so it's all good. I just want to know that I waited as long as I possibly could.

I think that release dates are the least reliable pieces of info in a rumor.

Need it before you "leave for college?"

Why are all you jokers saying you need a new Macbook before you leave for college? What, you have NO laptop at this time? Is that even allowed on most campuses these days? (seriously) And Apple doesn't deliver to your college?

I always find this reasoning so silly. You can go to college with the laptop you have and make it for a few days. Or you can buy a Macbook now and then sell it at a $100 loss in a month on Ebay - consider it a one month rental for $100.

I need it, I need it. Please.

What, you have NO laptop at this time?

 Why is THAT so hard to understand? I didn't have a laptop until I purchased one for college. I'd imagine it isn't exactly unheard of that people are using a family computer or have a desktop through high-school...

Unfortunately some people are unable to think this way. It's like a disease. A really bad one. um, yea.

I'm looking to buy 2, for me and my sister as we are going to University. She's going to Europe for her education, so needs a laptop by september 5th, so we'll buy her one regardeless by mid August. On the other hand, I already have a 2 year old Macbook, so I will probably wait it out till whenever the next refresh is. Plus I'll still be in the UK and will be able to get it delivered to Uni.

I suspect the Macbooks to come out in August because the new iPods will probably come out in September...and Apple won't release two major updates in one month.

Whatever...

...then I'm afflicted. I know of no college students who don't have a laptop or can't get by during the first week without one. The "I need one before college starts" argument is silly.

Indeed, this whole obsession with when the next Apple product is going to come out - being preoccupied by it - is silly. It shows just how much consumerism has taken over our lives and our identities are defined by owning the latest newest.

I don't think it will come out in August. Stop spreading around that rumor because 1) the blog dude said it should be late September 2) why shoudl Apple release it, when it would upset a bunch of people who bought hte older crappier MacBook a day before to even 2 months beforehand? 3) Whyw ould they want to give a free ipod with a brand new macbook.

It will be at least the end of septembre so that the people who bought the macbook and ipod touch deal can't excahnge the macbook for the new one (the 14 day policy deal).

There was a post above saying that the updates that have been in the past in August would be probably the iMac or the Mac Pro (the desktop) or some stupid **** like the mighty mouse lol.

hey guys a little info from my source (not sure if its for sure or not). News macbooks will have a touch screen keyboard like interface. think like the nintendo DS laptop version, bigger screens of course. essentially it will have two screens, one of which is "touchable" basically all the multitouch features and surface like functionality. so again im not sure it this is for real, or an idea thrown around among the designers. we'll just have to wait and see huh?
