Does the optical output not give a clean audio signal? I've never used the one on my laptop.
The minute someone invents optical headphones - sure. Until then, yes macbook audio via analog jack is pretty ******. I use USB DAC at work for all my music listening needs.

8 April, 2010
Steve Jobs: "And, so those are all of the new features we can expect out of the iPhone OS 4, which will also drive the iPads and be applied via software update. This concludes our presentation of the iPhone OS 4. Thank you all very much for coming, and thank you for your attention.

Oh, and one more thing..."

IMHO there will be a "one more thing"

I think they will present the new iPhone at the end of the show.

The new MBP lineup is very unlikely

this is a press event, not an expo. There won't be a "one more thing."

I really hope the refresh is before april 21st. Leaving for a long trip to Argentina then, so it would be the perfect time to get a new 13" Macbook (just sold my 15" because I want a smaller form factor).

I think April would be to soon. So I'm betting on May or June time frame for the update. If it's earlier I won't complain.:)

At what point do we stop chasing the carrot?

Seriously. I'm about to just go buy a "current" macbook pro and just say the heck with chasing the update carrot. Maybe if I buy now, by the time it feels right to update again, there will actually be a new macbook to upgrade to.

I'm kind of in the same boat. My only problem is, I would really like a 13" MBP, but I am not satisfied AT ALL with the specs of the current ones, and the only machine with specs that I really do like is the 15"MBP with discrete graphics, but that machine is a lot more money than I want to spend.

I've actually started to consider other options. That's how badly I need a new machine soon, as I have work I need to do and my current crippled machine can't cut it.

I'm thinking early June.

I get married in 2 weeks, then go on honeymoon for 2 weeks, then get back, have university exams for my part-time course, look at how much money I have still and how much we get as wedding presents, wait for the back to school offer to start, and "Boom!", new MBPs with a free ipod touch!

All of these delays have been around the fact that Apple are delaying 'til I have the cash. Sorry guys.

Here is to hoping that this rumor is true, my mac is in the emergency room and almost flat lining and I am not jumping the gun just yet (but I don’t know how much longer my mac will hold )

Seriously Apple! Your going to bring out notebooks before the mac pros?!!!!! Just shoot me now.

What makes you think that? Next week is NAB. Regardless of if Apple has a presence there or not, they would be wise to update the Mac Pros next week.

There is going to be a lot of creative professionals checking out the latest and greatest products next week. Many people, like myself, have waited until this event to update our workstations. A fair amount of us are looking for workhorse systems, such as the Mac Pro, not new laptops.

So, in my opinion, it would be wise for Apple to update the Mac Pros first.

Best Buy

Looking at the 15.4 macbook pros that are on backorder shows a restocking date of 4/20 to 5/4
If it comes out on 4/20 Im not sure if I'll remember to go and get one
