What a bummer geekbench does not show the graphics card.

That's where it gets really iteresting. If it's a 620, will it allow graphics switching to the intel graphics built in.

If it's a 720, will it have a different graphics card?
new NVidia graphics or will it be the ATIs which look great.

i read a lot of threads were people say the graphics switching on existing sony's and hps doesnt work very well.

i also read rumors of a new nvidia chip--maybe those will be used?

Well, Core i5Ms should be more than enough for new MBPs...any differences in battery life between those and C2Ds?

It should be better considering that the 620m consumes 35watts compared to the current C2D's that are at 65watts.

i got some speculations.

Maybe they'll keep the 13 inch at core 2 duo and bump up the 15 and 17 inch... then upgrade the 13 inch with the next refresh.

Will the macbook continue to be core 2 duo? It's still in the high end market so i would think so... but again, maybe it will get the upgrade later than the others.

I'm thinking from a business standpoint... I think Apple will try to force us to buy 15 and 17 inchers to get these new processors. then once everyone has shelled out the extra cash... upgrade the computer we all wanted.

Wonder what they would be doing to the integrated Intel GPU on the Arrandale. I think it should be OK to have a Intel Integrated GPU + ATI Discrete GPU combo - if the ATI GPU power draw is significantly lower than the 9600M GT - many people will use it all the time anyways. And this seems to suggest the Intel GPU on Arrandale is not all that bad for videos, general browsing etc.

If it is a rumor generating trial balloon, it is a new style not employed before. If it is an overzealous engineer, there is no assurance MacBook Pro 6,1 will be released as dual core at all or if so that a primary configuration is an underclocked (variable clocked) quad core.

If this is a real heads-up, maybe something Superbowl related to show the "three devices" Apple showed at the news conference. iPhone, iPad, MacBook.

Rocketman

You know every time Apple comes out with a new spec bump the website shows all these nifty specs. I've noticed before they also showed a geekbench result on the performance page.

This could have been Apple simply getting the results in order to put it on their website.

A one time only deal that they didn't think anyone would notice.

Either way, the graphics chip that is built in the 620m is worse than the 9400m(which is good for a standard chip). Since it does come built in, it would be kind of cool to have the option of switching gc's on the fly without having to log off, with maybe the option of the 620's card along with the 2 other cards. But that's probably worse than dreaming...

good possibility:D

Mini...

As long as they introduce an i5/i7 in the MacMini within long, I would be happy, but I guess this is not very probable?!
Even a BTO would do.
I prefer my Mini with SSD and 30" screen over a 27" iMac with screen problems and 3,5" harddrive...

Honestly that makes zero sense to me from a marketing perspective to leave the 13" behind. You can get a 13" Dell craptop with an i7 so it would be an embarrassment if Apple's "pro" 13" wasn't similarly equipped. Also, I would think prospective 13" buyers would be turned off w/ an old C2D. (As a 13" fan, I would not consider a 15", so it's not a clever "bait n' switch" scheme. It would not lure me to a 15").

Has anyone ever thought that Geekbench might have made up these stats in order to get extra traffic? Think of the hits they would have got over the last few days.

Wouldn't hold my breath for an "i" anything Mini until the "i" series is more mature. Maybe end of the year?

For Geekbench to commit such a fraud would damage its franchise, not to mention legal repercussions. Geekbench is already very popular so I don't get what they take out of perpetrating fraud for a few lousy clicks and posts on forums.

A very good point...but why would they have clicked the "Post Results" button rather than just get the screenshots they needed?

HDs or SSDs?

I'm waiting on the update do get my 13" MacBook Pro.

Do you guys think its possible that they release it with 2 options for hard drives?

ex: You can choose either a 64GB SSD if you want higher performance or a 250GB HD if you want Storage.

On Newegg:

64GB SSDs around U$ 200.00
250GB HDs around U$ 60.00

But the iPad without 3G is U$ 699,00.

I was thinking about it, the iPad comes with either 16 - 32 or 64GB SSD.

And SSDs are starting to replace HDs due to the performance increase and because you can shake your laptop without worrying if your laptop is gonna die due to scratched disk.

I know you can choose the option for the 128GB SSD for an extra 400 bucks. But it would be nice to choose a smaller one by default.

I would definitely choose performance over storage. External Hard Drivers like the Western Digital Passport are easy to carry around for storage. I just wanted something to make my laptop even more portable and decrease the chance of having a bad hd.

Where is this dell 13" i7 you speak of? I've been looking recently but...

We've been over this numerous times before. The c2d's are EOL this summer, so unless Apple plans to refresh the 13" out of cycle, they have no choice but to upgrade.

Accident. I know that sounds naive but it does happen.

As soon as the results pop up theres a button to submit. Maybe the engineer was so used to benching his personal hardware he instinctively hit the submit button.

It's possible.

lol

Ima post this and stay out of macrumors for a few hours *TRY TO* at least

What I want:

7+ hour battery life capability in 15" machine (dont mind having to use lower gpu or limited processor power while on the move)

High power graphics card, running a 27" on my old 9400m from the first edition aluminum unibody (the one with removable battery still) (again dont mind only having dedicated graphics power when hooked into the wall)

blue ray I don't care about since I have my big led lcd tv downstairs now, but i'd like to keep optical drive in for dvd writing.

More ram, 6gb if it is like the i7s in the mac pro I think should come standard or atleast for reasonable fee -- but only in the high end models.

airport, bluetooth of course

any of the 620m+ processors look promising for me.

I dont care about making it any thinner, frankly if they were to make it even a little fatter we could fit in the 500gb 7200rpm drive from hitachi which is 12.5 so just a little too tall for our computers, but more reliable than seagate's nonsense. (dont want to start a debate over that, we use hitachi and work with INCREDIBLE success and longevity)

FIREWIRE 800/400 one of each come on apple!
2x USB slots (cuse admit it, if you have alot of peripherals you have a hub anyways)

None of this seems unreasonable for an estimated 2500 dollar apple. I know we pay a premium for the brand name, but it's all from china now anyways. I really want to see high end 15" at 2200, but I'm being reasonable on the way apple prices things.

I am also wondering---
will it have a dvd built in or will they follow the route of others and toss it.

I hope they make it external
much smaller mbps

Highly doubt it because you can choose not to share the score.
This can easily be faked. I'm surprised more people aren't suspicious.

That being said how does this compare to imacs geekbench score or older mac pros?

I agree with two of the above posts:

Geekbench potentially creating these results to boost traffic.

Why would Apple "Submit" instead of just "Saving" the results (these are the two options you can choose after running Geekbench).

Doesn't make any sense.. we can clearly disregard this as fake.

Yep, it's possible...and it makes as much sense as anything. :)

You cannot find something that is not there. :D
This is Dell's current line up: http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/core_i7_systems/fs.aspx?refid=core_i7_systems&cs=19&s=dhs
Dell's Adamo has C2D running, i don't think there is a Dell 13" with an i7 processor.
