My mac rigs...

Geekbench for the iMac 24" 2.16Ghz w/ 2Gig ram : 2499
Geekbench for 15" PB 1.92Ghz w/ 1.5Gig ram :1533

That PB has been upgraded with a new CPU 7447A, hence the score. Not bad, considering the thing is nearing 3 years old.

:)

Holy hell, my G4 at 1.67 with 1024 RAM scored a dismal 995.

Wow...... I just Geekbench'd my iBook G4..................

a WHOPPING SCORE OF:

505

:(

Ouch. My 17" 1ghz 1GB RAM got a 593. I REALLY need to upgrade.

Allow me to help you all feel better about your machines. My home computer just scored a 390! Still using a PowerMac G4/800 Quicksilver. When I finally get my new iMac 24", I'll be close to 10x faster. Crazy.

Don't feel so bad about my MacBook at all. :)

Wow, my iMac is pretty close, having the 1.5 GB that I have really does make the difference, it is almost the same as yours : )

how does it feel going up to 15" from 12"?

I was thinking about doing the same, but the size/weight of the macbook pro is keeping me away (in addition to all the ultraportable rumours ofc).

is it significantly noticeable?

yeah it certainly is different. Surprisingly the SR MBP is lighter than my 12" PB. Also, the backlight is sooooo bright comparatively. I have it on half now and its blowing my PB away. I do kinda miss the footprint of the 12". It seemed like the perfect size. But I'm getting used to the 15" and starting to really appreciate the extra space as well as decent resolution.

the long and short of it: I don't want an ultraportable. If it got any smaller than the 12" PB thickness wise, it would be almost too slim and small to work on. The 15 is great. I say go for it. This thing is unbelievably faster.

For comparison:

Geekbench Score 1077
Model Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors)
Operating System Mac OS X 10.4.9 (Build 8P135)
Model Power Mac G4 (Mirrored Drive Doors)
Physical Processors 2
Processor Frequency 1.25 GHz
Memory 1.00 GB

Not horrid, but it looks like I could use a new system.

since when did you have to pay for geekbench?! it was free

since those Canadians wanted to start making money.

Can't really blame them EH.

Canadians, you can't live with em, you can't....um

(Its okay, I live in Buffalo and worked at a Tim Hortons :) )

Hi!
1st post, but i think its for a good purpose. Gonna buy my first Mac!
I'm just wondering, hows the new oled screen? How does this new technology compare to the "old" lcds? In terms of color accuracy, which is my main concern.
Is there any review on these screens?
