obviously somebody at intel got told that the i5 macs were coming out and that they were going to do a promotion for them. He got a random picture, put it on a poster and put it on the internet without knowing what he was doing.

Something may happen today, I was just on the store homepage and the prices underneath the macs and ipods where its says 'From £...' have gone missing

http://store.apple.com/uk

If you got to an item it's price is still listed but on the front page it is missing. This is the same on the Australian and Belgian stores but not the US one. I wonder if they are working on the store but haven't taken it down yet?

Prices still missing as of 10.30 GMT

haha Buzz, that's just cruel. :p

some very interesting discussions and theories here....
and to think that i was this close to buying a used MacBook Air on eBay just this last weekend...

Same in Spanish and Hungarian stores...interesting :D

I highly suggest you return it. If you didn't open it yet - don't. You could get a full refund. If you opened it, you are going to have to pay a restocking fee (I believe it is 15%).

Damit - Wish I had known that before. I have opened it like a little kid on xmas day i couldnt resist.
hmmm now im going to have to think even harder about what to do.

Thanks for the info tho :)

Indeed. Maybe next week...

Maybe Apple engineers want to use nVidia Fermi based discreet graphics in new MacBook Pro-s.. If that's true then knowing those GF100 video adapters are delayed until March'10 .. refreshed MBPs won't show up for quite some time :(

If you're right, at least we'll be getting Fermi sooner rather than later. If Apple updated now, we wouldn't be seeing Fermi until the summer at earliest. Do you know if NVIDIA is supposed to be releasing mobile versions of Fermi with the desktop versions in March?

I have not seen anywhere any tips specifically about mobile variant of Fermi, but I hope they'll be out the same time with desktop cards. I don't really see why they should be delayed (if to belive TSMC's claims that they've got over their 40nm tech process problems)?

I often hear of a 'fourteen day' policy on these forums. It usually goes something like this: 'I just bought a MBP. If they release new ones within the next two weeks, I'll return the one I bought.' Is there some sort of unspoken policy with Apple that if they release new machines within two weeks of your purchasing an older model, you can return it and upgrade to the new model? Does the box have to be unopened? This just seems strange from a business standpoint, but would be great for me, because I ordered a MacBook Pro yesterday. If new ones come out in two weeks, I'll definitely want one of those!!

A simple Yahoo! search for "apple store return policy" found

For eligible Mac, iPod, and third-party products, you have up to 14 calendar days from the time you receive your item(s) to initiate a return. Personalized iPods (e.g., engraved or customized in any way) may not be returned for refund or exchange under any circumstances unless such product is Dead on Arrival (see the section below for more detailed information on such Dead on Arrival products).

If the item is returnable and you send it back to us unopened in the original box, Apple will offer you a refund based on your original method of payment. You must return the product to the Apple warehouse within 14 calendar days of the issuance of the RMA.

All products must be packed in the original, unmarked packaging including any accessories, manuals, documentation, and registration that shipped with the product. Apple will assess a 10% restocking fee on any opened hardware or accessory.

You'll probably want to go to the UK Apple store and type the same query. Don't depend on advice from MR,
especially for the UK store.

Thanks AidenShaw. Sorry for wasting your time when I should have searched for that myself. For some reason, I was thinking it was a bit more obscure knowledge than that. AND, that's the site I needed - I'm in California for two weeks, so I ordered it through the US store. It will be a close call if new machines are released and I have to return this one, though. =P Now my other dilemma - I need to be using a laptop while I'm here. Do I open or do I NOT open the box?! 10%! That's $150!! Oh my...

Last question: Can I return a computer purchased online to an Apple Retail Store?? (I'll do a search on my own this time as well) =)

Does this also apply to replacement products? If I get a current 13" Macbook Pro as a replacement can it be returned in 2 week for an updated one?
