After using it daily for a week, I find the thick design beneficial. You can lay in bed and the smooth rounding doesn't poke your stomach. The rounded sides on the screen are nice to touch compared to the previous sharp sides.

The keyboard is slightly different and more clicky. I prefer it over my full size magic keyboard. there is just something extra about it. The black on black keyboard blends well even though I originally thought id hate it.

I don't see any blooming and im always in dark mode looking at white text. I also have 20/20 vision.

I don't see the Notch at all.

The sound is better than the 2019 MBP 16. There is more oomph and you can really feel the body vibrating.

I thought the 2019 was a great build and couldn't be better but now im very glad I got rid of it. It kinda sucked in comparison to this new thing.

If you are hesitant on upgrading because of the new design looking uglier in photos, it doesn't seem this way in person. It feels natural and simpler. I enjoy touching it.

I was also put off by the online photos, but in person this machine is a thing of beauty. The feel of it just oozes quality workmanship. I, too replaced my 2019 16 inch with this M1 Pro 16, and the experience of quiet fans, much cooler temps and double-plus battery life was well worth the upgrade.

It‘s weird how the 14 inch feels “heavier” (sampled it in the Apple Store) — the smaller size tricks the brain into expecting something much lighter than it actually is. Paradoxically, the 16” feels “lighter” due to it’s better weight distribution, which again tricks our brain into expecting this thick big-boy to feel like brick.

I also had the same feeling when lifting them with one hand at the store. Was set on the 14 but left the store feeling unimpressed. Days later went to another store and again lifted both with one hand over and over again. I just didn't feel much of a difference and the 16 made the 14 screen look like the small awkward sibling. Grabbed the 16 because the 14 felt like im settling.

Typing this from my brand new 16" M1 Pro 1TB. My 2014 MacBook Pro finally gave up the ghost this morning and I got one of the last new MBPs in my area.

To say it is way better is an understatement. I'm happy I waited till Apple brought back the ports; I knew they would realize dongles were inelegant. ;)

I haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm wondering how I react to the weight because the optical trick for me is that it resembles my 5.6lb 2010 Unibody MBP that I still keep around as an emergency laptop. I expect it to feel like picking that monster up.

Only the first few days. Your muscles adapt to things you use, just like going to a gym.

Got mine a few days ago. It's a nice computer. The screen is great, the keyboard easy to type on, the speed of the computer crazy fast. But, I got this thing to replace my M1 Air and so far, I'm still on the fence about whether it was a good move or not. My M1 Air is a great little computer and pretty much does everything my new Pro does...except take all my money. $2000 is a lot to ask for the 14" MBP. Even after trading in my M1 Air, I will still owe Apple over $1500. I still have about 10 days left in my return window, so we'll see where all this goes. May just stick with the Air for now.

I can’t believe I still have to wait another month for my new MBP to arrive. Thanks for the info - I’m also trading in a 16” 2019.

Do any of you have the new one hooked up to an external monitor? I’m hoping the heat will not be as bad on the new one.

Had mine for close to two weeks. Traded in my 2013 15" for the 14". Dropping down in size, but retaining a fairly close screen size, has been really nice.
