I can’t believe I still have to wait another month for my new MBP to arrive. Thanks for the info - I’m also trading in a 16” 2019.

Do any of you have the new one hooked up to an external monitor? I’m hoping the heat will not be as bad on the new one.
Night and day difference with my LG UltraFine 5k. GONE are the heat and loud fan noise. Even when screen sharing Windows 11/Parallels over Zoom (which used to make my Intel 16" sound like a jet engine). Such a huge relief!

I personally really like it - love the callback visual cues on my silver 14 to the powerbook 12; and it's also a very modern design at the same time. I remember iOS7 - ppl railed against the design decisions (FLAT! BRIGHT COLOURS!) as old fashioned, and that's died down - not everything apple does is great, but it does make leading design decisions that typically catch some criticism before ppl adjust and accept them (NOTCH! FLAT LID! THICK!).

I fell in love with the design language at first sight. It's so reminiscent of the first Mac I bought new, the 15" Ti Powerbook G4 DVI, but taken to the logical conclusion with the unibody manufacturing process.

And it's even better than I expected in the metal. Love it.

I can see the blooming even in Apple Store, where usually is well lit.
I think it varies person by person.
But still mini led is better than nothing

Got mine a few days ago. It's a nice computer. The screen is great, the keyboard easy to type on, the speed of the computer crazy fast. But, I got this thing to replace my M1 Air and so far, I'm still on the fence about whether it was a good move or not. My M1 Air is a great little computer and pretty much does everything my new Pro does...except take all my money. $2000 is a lot to ask for the 14" MBP. Even after trading in my M1 Air, I will still owe Apple over $1500. I still have about 10 days left in my return window, so we'll see where all this goes. May just stick with the Air for now.
What was the Air not doing that the Pro promised to? I never really understand anecdotes like this on here. Either you knew you needed the extra power, or you just wanted the newest shiniest thing. If neither of those are true, why buy it in the first place?

After using it daily for a week, I find the thick design beneficial. You can lay in bed and the smooth rounding doesn't poke your stomach. The rounded sides on the screen are nice to touch compared to the previous sharp sides.

The keyboard is slightly different and more clicky. I prefer it over my full size magic keyboard. there is just something extra about it. The black on black keyboard blends well even though I originally thought id hate it.

I don't see any blooming and im always in dark mode looking at white text. I also have 20/20 vision.

I don't see the Notch at all.

The sound is better than the 2019 MBP 16. There is more oomph and you can really feel the body vibrating.

I thought the 2019 was a great build and couldn't be better but now im very glad I got rid of it. It kinda sucked in comparison to this new thing.

If you are hesitant on upgrading because of the new design looking uglier in photos, it doesn't seem this way in person. It feels natural and simpler. I enjoy touching it.
which one do you use?

The things I'd like updated:

- The MBP logo underneath is upside down if you put your machine on a Book Arc.

- An extra USB-C port on the right side.

- Colour matched MagSafe cable.

- Side firing speakers so that the sound is clear and not muffled when the machine is in clamshell mode.

I see I am not the only one who felt this way about the design when seeing pictures and seeing the new MBP live (my reaction to pictures was just 'meh', while live I literally fell in love) and also about how much nicer it is to hold than the outgoing generation (this I also noticed while at the shop). The feel is quite similar to my previous early 2015 MBP, but the aluminium casing is even nicer to touch (it's just so... smooth?). A lovely piece of tech!

It's as close to perfect as it can be. With very little room for improvement here and there but it's still amazing. I'm so happy!
