Would like to see iMacs running cool, not the 180F as last
I had the 2015 27" m395 GPU version and that thing stayed cool all the time. Which iMac are you referring to?

Try to resell it to the Apple store when you buy your new one... Then you'll know the value of itGuess my resale value on my 2012 is still good ... so there's that ....?![]()
I'm glad I am in dongle heaven, a dongle for USB-A ports, dongle for networking, a dongle for hdmi, a dongle for converting usb-c to magsafe, dongle for sd card which adds to my current dongle for DVD drive for when I need to convert kids movies to iPad format. I'm also looking forward to a potential dongle for my headphones if they take away the 3.5mm jack to make space for a bigger battery. Finally, getting rid of all the standard ports and replacing them with a bunch of usb-c ports that need adapters for all my devices.
Apple sells an adaptor for that for only € 29,99. Their computers are so "modern" and "advanced" you have either to buy new peripherals or adapters. That's one way for Apple to get more traffic to their stores.Suddenly millions and millions of Sandisk, Kingston USB-A memory sticks become obsolete.
Yes, we had the courage to remove this port and that port, we've gone from 8 ports down to 5? ports and made 4 of them the same. That leaves some space to add in a bigger battery.I wouldn't be surprised if there won't be an event. To fill an entire hour with a touch panel and a slightly thinner body is rather...difficult. And no rumors at all point towards anything else, that's in the pipeline.
So much for a "Pro" level laptop. Losing MagSafe, HDMI, and SDCard slots. I don't care about thinness in a Pro laptop. I value functionality way over thinness and portability. My Macbook Pro 2010 is the perfect size and weight. If you want to remove the ports that a lot of people use ALL THE TIME, then do that crap with the Macbook or the Air, not the Macbook Pro. That damn headphone jack better be there too or I'm roadtripping down to Cupertino.
I just hope FCPX doesn't go the way of Aperture.
They did a new demo at NAB. It's very much alive and well. The creative summit for fcpx is worth attending if you've never been. Last year we went to Apple and they showed us how Focus was edited. Hopefully they do an NDA and show more of the new FCPX under development
Apple isWish they would be specific with a date.
I'd love to goThanks Barry! That's encouraging. I'd love to attend but I live in Amsterdam, it's a bit of a stretch to book a flight to Cupertino in a week from now.
With an event invite that reads…
ARMed For The Future
…I think we can finally say goodbye to Intel.
What are you planning in plugging in to the 4 of them?I kinda like the idea of having 4 TB3 ports. The only "old" ports they should still use are the MagSafe and the Kensington security slot (RIP).

"The 17" iMac Portable" would be great,
but I'm quite sure Apple prefers selling you 1 notebook + 1 desktop instead..![]()

Honestly, given the long refresh rate, it almost feels as though Apple is waiting for some older tech to depreciate before dropping it altogether in favour of newer ones.![]()
The rumoured removal of the SD card slot is a damned disgrace. Apple are really taking the piss now. First the DVD drive and the USB ports and then the 3.5mm jack on the iPhone 7 and now this. As a videographer the SD card slot is very handy as I use it to upload videos from my GoPro. Oh well bloody zapple will expect fellow photographer/videographers and anyone else to buy a separate device which is more stuff to carry about.
You can do it yourself with a tube of glue. You have to power to decide which ports you no longer want to useI bought the dongles and hardly ever use them. The future is wireless. Only Apple can force the issue.
But their 'desktop', the iMac, is essentially a laptop with a stand attached. There's nothing truly 'desktop' about it (in the traditional sense of the word).
Theres a difference between taking out a port and never having one.And also, not ALL photographers use SD. Dammit. This argument keeps coming up and yet I know a whole bunch of photographers (pro and amateur) who liberately still use CF.
