Hey
I got my Macbook Pro a few days back and have the same problem. Look at my thread:

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/972920/

Just like you, my Apple store is about 45 minutes away. The photo I posted on my thread makes it look worst than it really is - but it's really unnoticeable on my computer so I'm not even going to worry about it. Plus, everything about my computer is completely fine and I don't want my replacement to be all screwy with one thing and I don't want something else to get ruined in the process of fixing the screen. I'm not OCD at all, but surely I wish it was better - but that being said, it doesn't bother me one bit. I know my computer won't look like it was day one (particularly from the keyboard wearing out and becoming shiny) so I just want to use it how I please and I'm fine with that too. I just want it to last longer than two or three years before being unusable.

ha. i saw that and that thread which is why i made sure to check mine was even
which unfortunately it wasnt lol
yeah i guess your right
i might repair it at the apple store once if im going near one
but im not going to make a special trip just to repair this
ill try to live with it
otherwise my mac is just everything ive wanted and more

I'm actually not "hot" about it or out of my mind. I just took offense because of the rude comment you made. As for friends, sorry I got friends. lol ;)

So nice try. I'm sure you make rude comments because of some problem(s) or insecurity in your own life. The problem is that most people like you won't admit they have issues in their own life or they fail to realize it. I took psychology in school. :D

Have a nice day. :)

haha what a class reply
anyways man some people arent even worth arguing with
his first post was very rude but eh whatever
hes ignorant

yea, and I would rather have them realign it then get a new one because a new one may have other problems

Do you really think that it is that likely that you are going to get a unit with problems? I decided to go PC free (my name is Eric and its been 8 months since I last owned a PC) because in my experience, Apple computers provide a much more worthwhile and consistent experience. I also picked up a MBP of the same proportions and the thought of having a non-working unit out of the box never even occurred to me. I don't have OCD but am a perfectionist.

If you are this worried about the unit what are you going to do when it gets its first scratch? Be careful of the screen and be gentle but the unit has got to be used or it is not worth the money.:apple:

Yeah, I wasn't going to make a special trip either with this, and I wasn't going to have one thats worst than this because I know I won't be able to go to the Apple Store every week to get it fixed (from what I've read) if Apple forgets to connect something like, oh - i don't know, the isight camera. Theres no way my mum would drive me 45 minutes just to get this damn thing checked out lol. Maybe if you're around my age, you'll know what I'm taking about :D (I basically don't have a car yet)

Honestly though, it's not even noticeable and you probably wouldn't have known about it if I didn't post that thread (I don't know how I spotted mine either) but it looks perfectly fine. just if you look real deep, then it looks misaligned.

yeah i wish i never read ur thread haha
welll im already getting over it
its just tht ''i got a new mac it has to be perfect'' kinda thing
but yeah your right
i still might go to the apple store though if im passing by :p

well i dunno how long it would take
and the nearest apple store is like an hour today
so i would have to take like 3-4 buses
so i guess ill see

why are so many people here so off topic
why the hell does it matter how i write
^ PS. i used no commas or periods

i would take it back.. you spent money on it.. if it bothers you then return it for a new one. its not some $200 netbook you need to explain that to your parents or call someone who will take you

your supposed to read the first post
and comment your opinion
oh thanks for teaching me
how to use a forum
i read you're post
and think that you should get over it

Also, it won't get fixed under warranty since it's a minor cosmetic issue. Maybe you'd have luck exchanging it inside of two weeks, but not a year from now.

I'm torn on this one....MBP's are very expensive, the fact that you saved for it, and it isnt up to your expectations, I think with a clear conscience, return it for another.

On the other hand, 1 mm is a lot, and afterall, its a laptop, chances are after a couple of months or years its going to have a few scratches....

Oh well, adding to the confusion!

Yeah, it's nothing to worry about. Not all Macs are perfect. Some people have a very small problem they want to get checked out, and then they realize their new replacement is a lemon, and then they have to go through many replacements until they get fed up. Wouldn't want that happening.

I would take it in just for the fact that you spent a ton of money, and there is no reason that the machine shouldn't be 100% what it should be.

i was just hoping there was an easy fix
cuz i just got it today and you know whenever you get something new you treasure it...especially since im 16 and i bought it myself...
its like 1-2 mm its kinda noticeable

Good Job at saving up! I know when I was 16 I didn't have that much money at one time.

What is the big deal? Go return it already. What is there to decide on this matter?

You bought a product. Said product is defective. You should go return the product and exchange it for one that is not defective. Simple.

I bought my MBP 17 inch second hand on craigslist. It had the same misaligned lid. It was already 14 months old when I bought and did not have apple care. I took it to the apple store the same day I bought it and they fixed it for me, for FREE, the same day.

Take it to the Apple store already.

I had the same "problem" with mine when I got it a short while ago. I don't know how you'd feel about doing this but...

1. Remove the bottom panel
2. Take out the two screws in the subwoofer housing (next to the SuperDrive) * note which hole they were in, ones longer than the other
3. Move the subwoofer to the side as much as you can without taking the wires out
4. Remove the two screws on either side of the bracket holding the monitor leads down, there's one of these brackets on either side of the display
5. You now have access to the screws securing the hinges to the chassis, there's 3 of them on each side.
6. *LOOSEN* them with a Torx 6 screwdriver, just enough so that the display has a bit of play
7. Line the display up as perfectly as you can, use a straight edge on one side and the front if it helps
8. Tighten the 3 Torx screws on either side up again, follow the guide in reverse, and Bob's your uncle ;)

that sounds pretty easy
but im not too good with following instructions without pictures lol...
especially with computers
did u happen to take pictures when you did it?
or have you seen a tutorial

If you type like an educated person, people might take you a little bit more seriously. Even if you aren't educated, fake it.
