I take it your old one is a glossy screen as there appears to be quite a bit of reflection?

Side by side i must say the the old MBP now looks dated to me.

Anyway, i'm very happy so far with my new MBP. :D

Yes the old is glossy. I hate to say it but I agree with you the old does look a bit dated:) Still it is a super machine in it's own right.

look at those lovely reflections off of that glossy screen on the new one:rolleyes:

anyway, other than that, very nice, i was looking at the old cinema displays last night trying to find the max res, and with out the black they are starting to look aged, as are the old mbps im afraid:(

thanks for the pics, unboxing / first pics are always cool to see

Looks lovely.

Your kitchen that is. Nice glasses as well.

:(

Sorry - that's the first thing I see.

I must admit - the design (ignoring the reflectovision) is very very nice.

How's the build quality - the seams on the construction, and the HDD / RAM accesability?

LOL can you imagine doing serious video or photoshop work when using floating point dark areas and then your reflection is covering it?

LOL way to go apple. That's really "pro" of you and your love for glossy.

Yes, it does reflect. I guess I'm use to it as my previous model as you can see is glossy

The build quality is exceptional. Very solid. The keyboard is nice. I had a macbook at one time so I kind of new what to expect. It seems to run cooler than my previous Pro as well.

Aaaah, beautiful machine. Can you post a few pictures of the display with solid color background? I'm very curious to find out how evenly backlit the display is as this used to be a problem. Also, have you notice any kind of color hue, like the infamous yellowing in the lower portion when you look at solid whites there?

Thanks! I wish I were in the market for a new one because this solid design is what the MBP should have been! But that's always the way things feel, isn't it?!

Congratulations and enjoy!

Sure, what color back ground? Light or dark? No yellow tint at all I can see. I changed the profile as well to one I had on my previous MacBook Pro. So it looks great to me.

Yes, it is always the way things feel:)

Added two new pix for you. Let me know if they are ok or you want something closer?

how is the trackpad button? Is it easy to click?

Yes, its easy to click, or you can set it so you just tap it rather than clicking it (which i've done).

Im pretty new to notebooks so i'm still getting use to a trackpad, but it works so much better than my PC notebook. Im soon getting use to the finger gestures. In all it works great.

nice pics
but I still like the old design more...
the all silver looking aluminum gives a more...futuristic look.

Thanks! It's always difficult to see because of the way the lens sees the glass/antireflective layer, but it does look very even and that makes excited about upgrading later on.....even though I really don't need to, and I really should not.. (convincing myself not to, as I always do before I give in)

Thanks again for posting the pictures!

Wow wow wow. You know, the more I see this thing, the more I like it. I'm still not convinced by the screen or the keyboard but having seen these comparison shots, as well as some amazing HQ comparison shots at Apple Insider, the difference in quality between the two machines with regards to physical finish, at least, is huge.
