New MacBook Pro's Appearing in Retail Inventory?

There we go again... Waiting for another week
I guess nothing will happen before 10.5.2 is out.
I guess it makes sense that they wouldn't want to put it out the door this close to having a newer version of the OS to go out with it.
(sigh) What's the age limit for temper tantrums? Just curious because I feel like throwing one right now.

It would make sense to release MBP with the release of 10.5.2. Also means it would be a little further away from the release of MBA.
I gotta say I think they will be updated with the next 2 weeks as it's been so long since the last update and the Penryn chips are out and being sold in PC laptops. The longer they delay, it will reflect badly on them and also eat into the gap between Penryn and Montevina releases, a release past February/March and people will just hold out till summer losing them alot of sales.
Obviously this is based on no facts and massively biased as I have everything in place ready to order when they are released.
ROLL ON NEXT TUESDAY AND IT BEGINS ALL OVER AGAIN
What else.Maybe the Web Design department just forgot to update the MBP section of the store

I've been waiting since august and if they are not released next week I'm either going for a Macbook or a used MBP( anyone selling one?
Wait, so you've been waiting since right AFTER they released a new MBP, and now you are going to give up weeks before an update for 7 month old refurb?

Waiting for this new MacBook is seriously holding up my life! I can't start my new job without a laptop and I'm not going to buy something that isn't currently top of the line. Argh!!
Actually, the one you buy today IS top of the line. It just won't be forever.
It's actually MORE lame to expect a company to announce all of its future plans in advance - just because of some inane sense of entitlement on your part. Apple has every right to not announce something until they're ready.
Here are my thoughts... and hopefully this minimizes the anguish for some of you.

I am purchasing a MacBook Pro this Friday. I too obsessed over this thread for a few days, but I have come to realize that my purchase is insured somewhat.
1 - If an update comes out in X days (I think 14) I can get some money back, or return it and get the new one that just came out.
2 - I am buying the absolute top end available now. 15" (i prefer 15 due to the size) 2.6GHZ, 4GB Ram, 7200 RPM 200GB HD and AppleCare. This ensures me my unit will at least still be comparable to the mid or low range model if a product line update comes within the next 6 months. I can then sell and upgrade, or wait until the next update 6 - 8 months later.
This to me seems to be win/win, and at worst, win/lose as little as possible. All in all, pretty low risk considering the way technology advances as quickly as it does. There will always be "something" better "somewhere" at "sometime" no matter what you do or when you buy.

I don't know about delusional, but as long as you won't be disapointed if / when the new Macbook Pro comes out in the near future and it is past your 14 day return policy - suit yourself
- it is your money. I want the new touchpad myself . The main reason however that I am responding is have you thought of getting the 2GB and upgrading it yourself to 4GB? From what I understand doing it your self would still be under the apple care warranty + you would save yourself several hundred dollars, just a thought

I too am in the market for a MBP and waiting for an update... and sadly discovered the thread of people "ass-u-me-ing"
How many people have been waiting for an update since Aug or Oct?
Either way...I think I'm gonna go and make a bunch of a low ball offers to people selling their MBP on Craiglist (most are fake BTW) and see if anyone accepts a cash (why are so many referring to their credit cards in this thread?) offer...
You see, my "Powerbook" is a 667mhz so anything I get is going to be an improvement...
I don't wanna spend 2 - 3 grand on something only to get buyers remorse... again. It happened when I spent $3k on the my current model... remember when the combo drive was announced?
So now I'll go and spend $1k or so on a 2.16ghz model... and use the extra money to buy hookers and make them clean my house or something. Either way, Apple won't be getting it...

I am planning to upgrade the RAM myself... I have one technical question though... I purchased 4GB RAM for my currrent MacBook... that RAM should work in the pro, right? They are both 667 SODIMMS...
Aside from that, I am maxxing it out from factory (I hear hard drives are a b**** to upgrade in the pros.) I know the 7200 is smaller than the largest available, but I need the speed more than the extra 50GB.

I was *so* ready to swing by the Stonestown (SF) Apple Store this morning after dropping the offspring at school. I don't *want* to limp along in G4 land for another week (or two or three or <i>n</i>).
Yeah, a bigger iPhone and iTouch several months *after* the gift-giving season, just in time for tax season. Brilliant plan, that.
