How do you think if the new MBP will launched at next thursday, how long shiping will be then? 2 weeks, like MacBook AIR?

PS. Sorry for my english.

i don't think the new macbooks will go online until it's ready to ship. i think if it does on the site, it should ship as so as they posted.

This is really very important for me. I'm not from US. I'll be in california from 9th till 24th of february and I HOPE I get new MacBook Pro. Oh, God..

well the apple website should tell you when it will ship. so there is not guess work once they go online.

i hope you get one, and it all works out

May we think about Montevina platform in the new MBP? Maybe Apple wants to make the MBP even thinner, so they use the similar board like the MBA's?!

Just some questions:
Is Montevina just thinner or even better?
What are the advantages ;p

No, as has been said before the new platform appearing mid year has NOTHING that benefits the Macbook Pro aside from CPUs with a faster FSB.

PS: Apple, release it already, I got the money already and I've been waiting for about 6 months! I am going crazy!!!

The current MBP came out about then. Out of curiosity, why didn't you get that one? It PROBABLY (unfortunately) is a bigger upgrade then what this will be. (Reading this it sounds like I'm being rude, but I'm just sort of curious :) )

Regardless of whether Montevina will be a major benefit to the MBP, I think people may still be interested in Montevina MBP's because a mid-year release would seem to be appropriate for a more significant update of the MBP chassis, etc.

Why though? People have been speculating when it will be updated since the original came out using basically the G4's design.

I'd love a redesign if it means it comes with a user accessible hard drive.

Not saying it's definite, but it's the next major reason to have a redesigned chassis in a while.

As Apple explained originally, one of the primary reasons they didn't update the MacBook Pro's design when it originally launched was because they wanted to maintain continuity with the previous PowerPC-based systems, to re-emphasize the idea that these were still Macs even though they had Intel chips inside.

But now that the Intel transition is long since complete, and everyone is comfortable with the idea, I think Apple has free reign to finally do something more significantly different.

Not saying it's guaranteed; I think the Santa Rosa updates could have been appropriate as well. Just that it's the next logical time. It could of course wait til January of next year, possibly.

hmm not sure about that. there is improvement of ram to DDR3, and also options for WiMAX.

what would expect to change to the platform to change a mac. a platform is pretty much just cpus, ram, chipset, bus, video, i/o port, and (in centrinos case) wireless. i really don't know what u expect froma platform to radically change the mac.

Luvaglio

I've been looking for MBP alternative notebook, but haven't really like any of them. I came across this super expensive notbook (rich boy toy) call Luvaglio, check it out if you haven't seen it. I think i'm going to wait until MBP release.

Thanks for all the advices.

Agreed - I gave up.

I have a second generation MacBook Pro and it's been great. I'll wait for WWDC for a new case MBP with a Magnetic latch and probably other features matching the MacBook Air.

I find it funny how people buy a computer, hold on to it for a few months then sell it on eBay losing money only to get a very similar computer with minor changes.

I gave up and ordered a MB Pro 2 days back, no point in waiting when you want one now.

I hope they'll soon come out here in Germany, damn I'm waiting since about 6 month...and I hate to wait so long

If it does update this Tuesday you may get the upgraded version. I remember when I bought my iMac I originally ordered a 20" 2.0 GHz Core Duo, but in the middle of shipping, it stopped. They changed my order to a 20" 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo and the price dropped. That was a pleasant surprise for me. :)

Wow! You scored on that.

I hope when I order my updated MBP 17" hi-res glossy, they boost me to full RAM and a faster processor then rebate the whole thing.:D

back up... I see no diffs as of yet.

Well I do... I guess I do... Mac Pro is no longer considerated in Apple Store as "new".

Again, we should not expect the Mbp coming out before the 1.1.2 is ready.

Since people are speculating that it will be announced the 26th Februry in Apple's Event, so it will be for the Mbp.

i didn't take a lot of time reading through all these posts but i did look this information up at a local best buy. it is not in RSS as the Apple Mac 1 - not called a macbook pro. the upc in that screenshot from the original poster is not a valid upc at all (if it starts with a 4 it is a dummy upc.) the instock date for that product is now May 5th 2008. It is also a 10lbs shipping weight which is almost double the current pros. I doubt this is even a real product (although I wish it was!!!) The only thing that should be hitting retail is the Air this month. they may announce a new pro this month but it wont ship or sell for at least a month after that.

sorry to ruin any mid feb dreams!!

Why wouldn't they be able to ship something this month and/or at the same time it's announced? They may not, but I don't see what this has to do with Best Buy.

those images you posted are fake. look at the product dimensions. not realistic. but the SKU is real. the release date for the product is May 4, 2008. YAHOO i cant wait. thanks for the false information that i was able to research! and i'm glad i found this because i was about to buy a mac this week but now i'll wait

What are the chances of a video card upgrade? An 8800m GTX would be AWESOME, but that seems unrealistic (Alienware managed to get it into a 15" notebook, but it's a half-inch thicker than the MBP). Maybe an 8700m GT?
