What are the chances of a video card upgrade? An 8800m GTX would be AWESOME, but that seems unrealistic (Alienware managed to get it into a 15" notebook, but it's a half-inch thicker than the MBP). Maybe an 8700m GT?

Third of an inch, but its also the thinnest notebook to have that class of video card.

so another 24 hours or so before the MBP is released into the world?

I certainly hope so, as I am champing at the bit to get my first mac ;)

So has there been any more rumor leaks?

Mac821 i go to OSU and they we reducing the prices for the new processors i believe thats why i got it for 1600 i got the last one too. But yeah i dunno if i am going to keep it i rather have the update but paying 200 more is something i don't know if i want to do.... hard choice money vs technology damnit!

Oh and buying in Poland maybe seem like a good idea since theres no tax there right? But when i went to Japan Apple product we inflated over the US prices so i guess double check the conversion rate and see if they add markup . But it could just have been Japan since you know everything in Japan is expensive especially the air!

I go to UofO, they had similar deal $1600 for the MBP early December 07, i misst he deal cos i dont really want an mbp that time. Is this deal you got happens just recently? i usually trust the college bookstore, they ALWAYS drop prices when updates are coming (except the one time that my bookstore drop the price last december, nothing happened).
Anyway, ive been trying to get a MBP, i saw the ebay deal too.... he got 5 left, not sure if i should jump on it.... ive been watching his auction for a week now, ill wait till tuesday if there is no update i think ill jump on the ebay deal and hopefully he still got some left for sale.
As of my university bookstore, there no price drop up till last weekend :(

p.s. i just realize ive been a member in this forum for 3 years now, i dont even know that i am registered (till i try to register and found out that my email is already used) ..... and now i remember i joined this forum 3 years ago, trying to get a 12" powerbook G4. Its funny cause i ended up with nothing, i wait and wait for update just like what i am doing now, and i finally didn't buy at all and end up with an Asus W3J a year later....and here i am now doing what i did 3 years ago, waiting for updates....hopefully this time ill end up with a mac

those images you posted are fake. look at the product dimensions. not realistic. but the SKU is real. the release date for the product is May 4, 2008. YAHOO i cant wait. thanks for the false information that i was able to research! and i'm glad i found this because i was about to buy a mac this week but now i'll wait

where did you get this information? from the Best Buy system? Because that is not anywhere close to reliable. They had three Macbook Pro SKUs in the system with in-stock dates of 2/10 and now they are gone replace by the one SKU with the may in stock date. don't count on this as fact unless you have another source. which you still probably can't count on as fact

Lead time?

How long do these Pros usually become available to buy in Store or to be shipped after an announcement? We are on a project deadline and need to buy one of these fellas pretty soon.:apple:

besides the trackpad....

I've been waiting to buy a Macbook Pro for about a month now because I figured an update was inevitable. Once they introduce these new Macbook Pros I will be buying one! I can't wait! The new trackpad would be a nice new feature.

I also want BluRay, smart card readers (or at least add it to iPod touch) and a QuickTime feature that lets you watch HD Cable TV fullscreen!!!! (hey I travel a lot for living)

:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Does ATI have any good cards? I've kind of lost track of them.

They have some parts that are "okay" on the desktop side, but they haven't had competitive mobile parts since...the Radeon 9600 actually. That was the first and last time.

People reported today on topics on these forums that some people have had their machines dispatched today. I'm thinking tomorrow for new MBPs is unlikely:
* Also there wouldn't be enough time to preload MBPs with 10.5.2
* Distribute these machines to retail stores with 10.5.2 for immediate availability

Next Tuesday maybe, not tomorrow, sadly.

apple already preloaded the new mac book pros. i doubt they JUST finished with the update...

They would need to be preloaded with 10.5.2. Friday there were reports of 10.5.2 being seeded, so they've had a couple of days at maximum.

I really, really, really, really hope my theory is complete crap and that tomorrow IS the Day!

There's definitely a chance that the new MBP could be announced tomorrow. Just because it's announced doesn't mean it will be available tomorrow rather like the MBA it could be available to order tomorrow with shipping a week later. This would given them plenty of time.

However I agree that a week tomorrow is now the earliest date but you never know with Apple. This would allow Apple to preload 10.5.2 and ship on the date of release. I also think they will want to space out the events. Milk 10.5.2 for a few days then an updated MBP and then the iPhone.

Still at least it now means one major obstacle to the MBP update is out of the way!

On the front page it says that the ultimate version of 10.5.2 released was the SAME developer version as has been out for a few days in developer land. Does anyone else think that this means they were testing these out in new MBPs before release today (and thus negating the need to wait yet another week). I can only hope...

Why is everyone so hung up on the new MBPs being preloaded with 10.5.2. when it is easily downloaded as an update? Wasn't it necessary for some early aluminum iMac buyers to get a separate Leopard install disc at the store at the time of purchase?

My feeling is that tomorrow is the logical date regardless of the update. That will give a nice 2 week window before the SDK announcement.

It's really hard to say. I recently noticed the new MBP SKUs appearing in our store system (best buy), and it said there was an in stock date of 2-10-08. I checked on these new SKUs yesterday and found the date to be changed to May 4, 2008. I'll show you all the picture with reference to what I'm talking about.

With that said, the current MBP SKUs list the items status as deleted. Who knows? Check out the pic and see what you think.

So you know : yes, there are two other SKUs (total of three) also with the same price points as the current SR MBPs. The one I pulled up was the $1999 version.

This was a quote from another forum topic in the "Macbook, Macbook Pro" folder titled "Is Tomorrow the Day?"

Thought it was incredibly relevant to this post so forwarded schreck's post here. Thanks for the info schreck!

The new ATI GPUs are more energy efficient than nVidia's latest parts. Also ATI has better Linux drivers currently. That wasn't the case in the past but nVidia messed up with the Linux driver support for the latest GPUs.

That makes sense. The only reason I was hung up on 10.5.2 was because everyone told me that that was what we needed for apple to release the MBP. What you said makes sense though.
