I have a second generation MacBook Pro and it's been great. I'll wait for WWDC for a new case MBP with a Magnetic latch and probably other features matching the MacBook Air.

I find it funny how people buy a computer, hold on to it for a few months then sell it on eBay losing money only to get a very similar computer with minor changes.
...or you can get a well vetted design with the 2008 update or bet the next design is not a POS when released.

You know, if you have the money to throw around, you can just buy a 2.5" sata ssd from any online retailer.

Yh but it'd be nice to see it offered in pro equipment not just a selling point for the expensive toy tht is the MBA.

Waddabout the graphics card? Mightly the new ATi Mobility Radeon 3xxx will arrive into the new MBPs. They are not as good as the nVidia 8800 GTS/GTX but better than the nVidia 8700 GTS. Would be a fair compromise, especially cause the new 3xxx needs much less energy and got the newest interfaces.

Although the drifting between keys is nice, getting caught by the sharp underside of any of the keys is a painful reminder that the keyboard could be better. I had a Macbook Pro and a Macbook Black and the macbook's keyboard was much better for typing. The new apple keyboard lowers the keys creating the perfect design in my mind. It would not be hard for apple to make the newer keys in silver, and with the sleek design they have on the keyboard they might be able to ditch the keypit altogether, making for an even better flowing design. We will most likely see the magnetic latch addressed in this upcoming model, but they will not be doing another mbp redesign until 2009. Although Montevina will be out mid 2008, Apple won't be putting it into anything until Macworld, and at that point there will be a 13" MBP released.

Something similar to this happened just before the Santa Rosa MacBooks came out. It will be soon!

To be delivered for the 10th, it has to be an announcement on the 5th. I can't imagine how or why they would announce new products AFTER they've been dispatched to shops other than Apples own. There's no way they'd trust people like BB with unannounced stock.

So- the next 3 days, we either get new MBP's (thus following the 'this tuesday or next' rumour from MR) - or both that MR rumour AND this BB rumour are false.

BTO delivery times increased?

The Australian store shows BTO delivery estimates now to be 4-6 business days... (up until yesterday, it was 2-4 business days).

This in combination with reports of various stores in the US now being out of stock might also suggest the next revision is more imminent?

I would expect something like the ATI 3650M too.

But for me, the most important feature is BluRay support. Most other companies now have laptops at a similar pricepoint to the MacBook Pro with a BluRay drive and Apple needs to at least have it as an option, or fall behind. But this will of course mean including a HDCP chip with the graphics card.

This is getting to much!!!!!!!!!

Apple end the rumors, end the torture. Do the right thing, we demand new MBP's.

Ok OK I'll ask nicely than, please please please give me a new MBP

Apple are calling me on Tuesday evening to replace my Macbook Pro as the broke my last one. So I really do hope they are updated! :D If not the santa rosa will do

Also the Apple online store here in Ireland says 5 days before its shipped. It's normally either 24 hours or 1-3 days. hmmm...

There have been no 15" MBP's on the UK refurb store for two weeks now ( well, one old X1600 model briefly ) -

Currently - all MBP's show as ready to ship on the UK store.

The upcoming mbp WILL have the magnetic latch.

I sure hope it will have that and maybe an updated keyboard.

Custom orders from the UK Applestore also seem to have slipped from 3-5 days (midweek) to 5 days (since Friday).

Everytime people say this wont be a major upgrade I don't know what to do...
Should I buy it when it only got some hardware upgrades?
Or should I wait for a full redesign?

But then I remember alot of people that said that Macbook Air couldn't be the name of the MBA because Apple would never put a part of their new product in their banners.

So some people think they know it all....(no offence;)) But Apple supprises us sometimes...

And thats what I'm hoping for right now...:)

Hopefully they are gonna blow us all away with a nice new-designed MBP.

[Sorry for my bad English]

5 days in the french Apple store for customed MBP !!

Cool :D

3-5 business days for CUSTOM orders in US apple store, too !

On Apple.dk it's 24 hours for a non-customised. 5 business days for a customised. Now, I don't know what it usually is around here.

I wish they'd hurry up and get here - just so we can get started with the NEXT round of "don't buy these because there's an update coming some day".

You buy a computer when you need one or when the feature set is compelling enough to replace your old one. This constant "I must have the latest 10% performance gains so I can do my email and web browsing faster" is inane.

They used to do it with CompUSA. Why not BB?

I work at BestBuy here in Canada, I will look the UPC up in our inventory system today at work. But there is no SKU provided on that inventory log, which leads me to it being a fake. It looks slightly different then the Canadian system, but thats to be expected.

Ill get back to you tonight at 8, when Im home from work.

Canada Store shows 'ships in next 24 hours'.

The MBP casing won't be updated without a special event. No special event rumoured so no MBP major revision. Thats more likely to come around WWDC if not sooner.
