So, less than a week and no media invitations or any indication of a keynote presentation. If it's a quiet update, it'll most likely just be the upgrades to the internals, not a macbook air style redesign.

They didn't have a keynote for the brand new redesigned iMacs a few years ago...

You know the 24th is Steve's Birthday!
Coincidence?

I thought the same thing. "The future of the Macbook" design which has been expected would be the sort of thing a media event would be used for. In my eyes, no event says to me, no major updates this time. Disappointed.

awsome , i need to replace my macbook who is turning 4 years old in march but still very usefull but i been wanting to go with the macbook pro for a while but i guess now its the time .

I expect them to be releasing the new iPad as well? or at least revealing?

I'm excited for the new MBPs... I'll probably be getting one before this fall's semester!

Does anyone think a "significant upgrade" would be released without an event?

My MBP is turning 4, and runs snow leopard like a champ, but I'll probably bite the bullet, and upgrade now.

I was hoping the MBA would also get a hard look. The whole C2D thing affected their entire line. Backlit Keyboard 13" MBA with sandybridge and Ill throw my wallet at the first apple employee I see.

Feb 24th... Steve Jobs' BD...

that is why they are releasing new macbook pros

:) 2/24/1955... he's 56 that day...

Not necessarily, when the iMacs received their latest design there was no event announcement. Although yes, new designs are normally accompanied by an event.

So like in 08...

The last gen MBP's got one last spec bump in early 08.... Then came unibody in "late" 08...

I suspect all new MBP's later this year. Around October?

There was a spec bump in April 2010 and no update later in the year...

Just got mines :p

JK. Good luck to all purchasing this gen. Hopefully you get your blu ray, USB 3.0 , 6Gbps SATA, onboard SSD, LightPeak, Firewire 3200 and all else your little hearts desire.

Don't forget the removal of the optical drive, yet still Blu Ray.

Apple has released products mid week when there are Monday holidays.

I love the new Air, but I can't wait to see how Apple handles the MacBook Pros.

wow, how timely.

I was about to buy a new 13" macbook air...

definitely waiting now.

Any chance :apple: will drop spinny hard drives and go to the SSD cars like on the MBA?

a thinner MBP would be schweet. My 4-year old stinkpad is still humming along, but it could die any day now.

If I didn't take the time to rejuvenate my MacBook I would consider getting a new one. But a nice spring cleaning sped things up.

Their have been several updates to different models with no media events at all. I think the totally new design of the Mini was done with no event at all, and the last Mac Pro and iMac..

UK stores back up now. But don't get excited. You never know though they may have uploaded the pics and info etc ready to go live....
