The last

Their have been several updates to different models with no media events at all. I think the totally new design of the Mini was done with no event at all, and the last Mac Pro and iMac..

UK stores back up now. But don't get excited. You never know though they may have uploaded the pics and info etc ready to go live....

The last media event introducing a Mac was in late 08 introducing the Unibody MBP's.

Unless you count the "Back to the Mac" MBA intro

I feel there was no event for the iMac because it was just an evolutionary update...

The Mac Pro, spec bump...

If the MBP's were really getting a complete redesign, we would have an event.

UK store is back online. Can anyone confirm that the colour of the 'menu bar' was not the black that it seems to be now? Could this be related. or am I just looking too deep?

This is so awesome! I'm going to buy one of these in late March I believe.

I'm hoping along with “improved performance” that it'll have improved battery life also.

It has been like that for a while now.

OMG! 24th would be awesome!

I was actually hoping for early April at first.. then rumors started showing up for early March, which I thought was too good news and that it might not happen... and now this! Februrary!

If it really happens I will be very happy, I'm currently running an almost 7yo laptop... 266mhz memory bus, Pentium M, ... need i say more of how badly I wanna upgrade? :D

I just got a new Macbook Pro 13" on 2/3/11 because my old Macbook laptop was stolen. There's no possibility that I might could go in and switch mine out for a new one on Thursday could I? LOL

JK. Good luck to all purchasing this gen. Hopefully you get your blu ray, USB 3.0 , 6Gbps SATA, onboard SSD, LightPeak, Firewire 3200 and all else your little hearts desire.
Of those we may just see SATA III. I think a SSD would be the next most likely thing to come standard.

No there won't. The Mac Pros were updated with spec yes but what was it? Nearly a year and a half since the last spec bump? And as I said the Mac Mini was totally redesigned and got no media event, I think that was launched at the same time the Mac Pro's and iMacs got spec bumps and no media event was made. So if they updated all their desktop machines with no event why do you think they will for the laptops? And Steve won't be doing it, in fact he should really retire with his health..

Macbook pro is not only due for hardware update, but it needs to be fully redesigned.

1. MBP needs to go flash for storage. MBA is beating the crap out of MBP in boot up time. Core i7 laptop is losing against 11.6 MBA with Core 2 DUO with launching apps and boot up. Go flash for storage. Screw hard drives.

2. Take out optical drive. Maybe not now, but definitely by next update. Give us super drive included though.

3. Current MBP design is awesome, but it has been around for 2 and half years. I hope apple is planning on updating it to make it thinner, lighter and go for 16:9 aspect ratio.

This update will be hardware update. I expect apple to hold press event on October/November to release brand new MBP with redesigned unibody.

Just a prediction, but I am going to hold off this one unless it has major redesign.

I need a new a laptop this year as my Dell 700m (awesome by the way) is now five years old. I'm perma-stuck with Windows XP. The only reason I haven't jumped and got another Windows laptop is because they all have crappy battery life. I hope at the minimum that this update bumps battery life to 12 hours.

I forever hope that Macbooks never go 16:9. The ONLY thing they are better for is watching 16:9 formatted video. EVERYTHING else is better on a 16:10 screen.

Don't forget the removal of the optical drive, yet still Blu Ray.

No ODD and Blu Ray? Put me down for two.

Tell me about iPad 2 refresh not iMac or MacBooks :(

Sorry the mac rumors on macrumors.com offend you. We'll get you back to your daily i device chatter hopefully within two weeks. One pre, one post? mmkay?

that is why they are releasing new macbook pros

:) 2/24/1955... he's 56 that day...
