If storage is all that's limiting you while waiting for the M6, I've used Lightroom Classic on files from an external Thunderbolt 4 SSD. It didn't feel any slower than the internal SSD, but LR itself has been pushing the limits of my machine lately (13" 2020 M1 MBP with 16GB RAM).I’m hoping to hold out for the M6 but I take so many pictures I’d like more storage.
Waiting will build character 🤭
Even if they are not a catastrophic failure, keeping MBP thick keeps it distinct from the much thinner MBA. Thin and light, or power, as I suggested in my edited comment. Physics is physics. A chunkier model enables bigger speakers and bigger, better cooling. They want it to be thinner to make it seem cool in marketing, not because it's a right decision from a product and product lineup standpoint. Apple IMO needs a pair of fresh eyes to come in and call out the bs and cull as much as possible from the product and services lineup.I have been thinking about this too. I think the thinness is going to be 2016 all over again with all the heat and some other compromises.
I am hoping that this time Apple has learned from its mistakes and has done all sorts of testing to ensure that the new ones aren’t a regression from a ports/throttling standpoint. I also hope they continue to improve the speakers.
I currently have an M4 Max 14” and had an M3 Pro 16” before that and a 13” M1 before that. I upgrade frequently to stay on the latest tech. I am thinking I get this M5 Max and wait and see on the new ones to see what catastrophic failure they have in terms of design.
If this does turn out to be true and you coming back here to make an apology post for him?If Gurman says it, it must be true. Lol
There's a big banner you can click on with a message on it telling you how to sign up for Gurman's Power On newsletter to read his post—the source for this information.Kinda weird not to link to Gurman’s article

After watching a gazillion YouTube videos about other people’s experiences of moving from Windows to MacOS and also a whole load of more general purpose instructional videos about how to do various things in MacOS I really can’t wait to get started with my transition.
There is a link to the online preview, and it says the full-length paid newsletter is not yet available.Kinda weird not to link to Gurman’s article
The touchscreen kills it for me and I doubt the touchscreen will be an option like nano-texture. It is unfortunate, as I was looking forward to OLED and likely some other port upgrades. A thinner case is also a red flag until we have seen many months of use by owners.nah I'm good. Give me my OLED M6 Max please!![]()
Well, if there's the option to select different GPU for the Pro and Max, it definitely makes sense with the new arrangement. Is the new online store design in preparation for a cellular MacBook?
Not that far fetched really. 5G speeds rival many peoples home internet and are perfectly usable. Is the new online store design in preparation for a cellular MacBook?
I have a 15” i7 with a Touch Bar, I feel your pain (and then some).C'mon, release it already! My old 16" i9 MBP is causing me a mental breakdown 😅
This appears to be the direction they are heading. You’ll have the option to choose between the standard LCD display and OLED.Is the new online store design in preparation for a cellular MacBook?
