I was sure that was the case but my iPad Pro most definitely came from a UK depot. I suspect the stock was being moved to locations and then the item was opened up for ordering. (Keyboard that is)

I’m wondering if it is mainly the configure to order items like the MacBook Pros or physically bigger items that get shipped direct from factories.
Anyway. I am sure we’ll all be opening our UK shipping keyboards on Monday :)

Interesting!

Fingers crossed for Monday then! I’d seen a lot of people ordering new iPad Pro models having to wait for it to bounce around China before making it to the UK so fingers crossed!

Seems all of us in the UK are in the same batch anyway?

PREPARING TO SHIP! I wonder if it’ll ship and arrive tomorrow (I’m overly optimistic!)
[automerge]1587110413[/automerge]

I didn’t see your post as I was replying to your earlier message. We’re clearly hoping for the same thing. Tomorrow’s my day off from work so it would be ace if it arrives then! 🤞
Think it’s unlikely to arrive til Monday. As don’t DPD not deliver on Saturdays? Guessing they will deliver it

Hi Dudes and Dudettes,

I am quite new to Apple (haven't had a device ever, but wanted an iPad pro since middle of last year for reasons, now have bought the new 11"), but I have a major concern.
One of the reasons I bought the 11" Pro was, to use with the pencil in apps like lightroom and photoshop and also have a very portable and versatile device with me (instead of a notebook).
But from the Magic Keyboard pics, it seems, like there was not much thought put into how to protect the pencil. If it just is attached as shown in a pic like this
images.jpg
I really fear, it will just fall of in my backpack or even at home.

I am currently using a 10 Euro case from Amazon, because I wanted to protect the Pro until the Magic Keyboard was available. This cheap thing even has a latch over the pencil.

As stated before, I am quite new to Apple, but from my perception, there was always put a lot of thought into their product design, which leaves me a bit irritated in this case.

Do I miss something here ("just put the pencil somewhere else" or "its either pencil or keyboard" does not qualify as "missing something") or is this just not...good?

I do take your point and this to me is more of a concern than the question of whether the case flips completely over (Which I’m pretty sure it won’t!)

I mentioned this a few posts back regarding looking at the AR model of the iPad and keyboard and I’m pinning my hope on there being an extra dock and charging point in the hinge.
this photo from the main webpage might give you an idea why I’m wondering and hoping. Would be great to stow and charge in the hinge. Check out the AR model too if you want to speculate even more :)

Here’s an AR screen grab. I could easily be totally wrong here, but that spot on the hinge looks like a pencil’s length. And my thinking is there’d be no reason to have that indentation there if there wasn’t a stow point, would there?!?

fingers crossed

Hmmm...from those pics it looks like the indentation is just where the top part of the case attaches to and the hinge moves/flows in the cylinder?

I could be wrong though!

Yes, I guess it could just be some kind of spring loading to make it ridged, or how the hinge connects as you say.

I think I’m going to be happy with it come what may, but this is the most unknown Apple product I’ve dropped £299 on...

Haha yes definitely! I do think though if there was a battery built in, somewhere to stow or charge the Pencil, etc they would of mentioned it somewhere in announcement?

It does seem odd though to not include somewhere to store or charge the Pencil securely though!

Mine has shipped. ETA 20th the sad story is I can’t pick it up until 23rd :(

That sucks! Where are you based?

Also, I now can’t check my status/tracking as the Apple Store is down til 1pm here in the UK (it’s 11am now) for iPhone SE pre-orders! Ha.

I’m such a speculator but this has got me wondering. I’m sure there’s power running through the keyboard case being hooked onto from the three pin connector of the iPad.
That’s what powers the whole thing so it would - not that I’m an electronics engineer to have a magnetic dock charge point integrated into the case, surely - without any battery needed.
Oddly enough the Apple Store is down for a pre order reopen. Didn’t know preorders are going live on the 17th for anything.

what else have they got up their tech sleeve?!?

Edit: my bad it is the SE. I was sure that was the 24th. Silly me!

Fingers crossed...

Apple Store is back up! Still on “Preparing to Ship” though...

For UK guys - Sorry this isn’t the proper place to ask this, but I’ve recently bought my iPad Pro and having a nightmare setting up mobile data via o2 here in the UK!

I finally managed to get an eSIM QR code sent to me from them and received it today. I’ve scanned it in within Settings/Mobile Data and it accepted it but just added o2 as a data plan but didn’t let me pick a plan?

Now it’s just sitting there in settings and no 3G/4G or any data signal other than WiFi? Does it take a crazy long time to add the data plan or am I missing something?

I’m on o2 and also have an iPhone and Apple Watch and they were extremely easy to set up data on!

Any help appreciated if any of you have data plans in the U.K.?

Same here. It’s not like I *need* it right now, but still!! 😊

Has the Apple Store crashed? It’s saying it “can’t check the status of my orders for a few hours”?

BUT - If I follow the link direct from my order email confirmation it takes me to the page but it’s moved BACK to “Processing” but it was on “Preparing to Ship” before? What’s going on? :-/

Not sure. The temp charge to my Apple Card disappeared early yesterday morning, leading me to think the actual charge would have hit last night and I’d have an update today. But nope. Nada.

iPhone SE rollout going on right now. Lots of people purchasing... should be back to normal in a couple of hours IMO
Yep. Getting hammered. I’m thinking the SE is going to do very well!

The reviews on the SE are amazing. for that part of the market, it is a huge winner!

I love the fact that it uses the latest A chip, giving it a VERY long life, one of the hidden gems of owning an iPhone. years and years of usefulness updates that keep making the phone you bought years ago, better.

Anyone else trying to check on their order on Apple.com, finding a notice to come back in a few hours??? The agony ;)
Ooops. I see others have posted the same.
