So much overlap on these streaming services. The reality is, a monopoly would actually be a better solution.
  • Netflix - €15.99
  • Disney Plus - €8.99
  • Amazon - €5
  • Apple TV+ - €6.99
Not to mention other sub services like Sky and F1 packages (about €60 pm).

In the grand scheme of things, it doesn't look like much, but that's €96.97pm, or €1163.64 per year! For most people, that's more than 2% of your annual salary (before tax), down the pan to watch some TV.

I now understand it better when I hear people are beginning to not watch TV and focus on more productive things...

Huh! Would be great if they released an app that worked…

FWIW, I'm seeing this same error on my iPhone & iPad, my Wife's iPhone & iPad, and on two Apple TVs.
HBO Really doesn't want people to watch their service!

Again, How long ago were people able to pre-order this on the App Store? I wanna say at least "weeks ago". So no one's had this issue during their testing? They did do some testing on this app, right? RIGHT??

Have they ever said what happens to people getting HBO Max for free with their AT&T Gigapower internet plan?

They wanted to offer more content than just HBO from the broader Warner Bros catalog. Using HBO name could then diminish the brand
You would have thought they would have learned from Alphabet (Google) and Meta (Facebook), that that isn't the greatest idea. HBO was a bigger streaming brand already than anything of the other stuff.

BTW - just logged on using Safari and am stuck on the Start Streaming button myself. It does nothing.

I have HBOMax through YouTube tv. Just logged to my account and my plan is listed as the ad free plan. Does this mean I’m going to be downgraded to the Max ad free? Losing Atmos and Dolby Vision 4K? No thanks and that’s real 💩
Same here, and looks to be that way. So, the service has now been downgraded in audio and video quality for streaming TV/cable subscribers, and the only way to get 4K/Dolby Atmos is to subscribe directly. No thanks.

So is anyone going to be watching Max on their iPhone 14 Pro Max via their AirPods Max?

You know, for the ultimate flex. 😛

PS: Let me know if I missed out any other “Max” opportunities. 😬

I have MAX thru my ATT fiber account and what I am now getting is only HD video, but I am getting Dolby ATMOS sound. So I seem to be between the two plans. I would rather they kept the 4K and only 5.1 sound on the tier we are getting.

You forgot the persons name is Max

Netflix finally hit a price that made me completely leave them about 12+ years. I will not have anything that’s less than 4K. Great model to follow. I already said never supporting HBO again after not giving Westworld an ending. Keep adding content when most of these services have a show or two I care about.

They can all fail. If a show gets a proper ending I’ll find it in a box set down the road.

I wonder if they will allows us to pay the difference and get the 4K with ATMOS plan?

Too expensive for 4K which is what a lot of people would want. These companies are going to price themselves out of business in the end.
I really wish that were possible. They know cable used to cost us about $150 a month for everything, the ceiling is super high for the time being...what could happen is one or two of them could end up being the clear winner and charge a boatload. We need a system that unsubscribes from services you don't use, a first party one.

0/2 so far on the devices I've tested it on:
2020 iPad - old HBO Max app still works, no prompt to update to Max app.
Roku TV running RokuOS 12 - automatically updated to the Max app, made me sign in again, now the app crashes on launch.

This reminds me of the early, super buggy versions of HBO Max/HBO Now/whatever else they called it.

Doesn’t work on iPhone or web browser at the moment. Rough launch.

Work fine on Apple TV and iPad for me.

I pay for hbo separately.
I pay for Discovery+ separately.

Wonder what the new price will (gouged) be?
$20 if you want 4K. $16 if you don’t.

You’re coming out ahead of you already paid for both as previously both packages ad free were $22 a month.

Let me know if it ever comes to the UK.

We had to watch HBO stuff (TLOU, GoT, HotD) through Sky which is trash. I'd rather skip Sky and sub to Max directly. If they don't wanna do that then fine I won't be watching any of their shows.
