You know, all this business about cards getting charged makes me skeptical about some posters.

Part of my order was for a new, wired, slim full keyboard. I ordered 1/22, it shipped 1/23 and my card was charged 1/24.

That would make me think that your card shouldn't show a charge until after the item is shipped.

Those reporting they have been fully charged as either full of it, or Apple's processing isn't consistent.

Let's say mine shipws 19th, I don't expect to see a charge until the 20th.

Therefore, I should get emails with shipping details before my card shows a hit.

Well, think about it. Not every MB Pro owner who preordered early January is on this forum and some are not so "on the edge of your seat, slobbering and contemplating destruction."

There is probably a ton of these going out today if one is represented on this forum.

I think that they don't ship a thing until they line it all up since you know as soon as they (the Apple mobulosticus) hea peoples' are shipping, more will order them.

Think about it. They need to get these bad boys to the stores because some first timers are wanting to know what all the hub bub is about with these Apple thingamagigies. Additionally, the 3 to 4 weeks makes sense now because since they apparently are ready for delivery today, they have so many backorders from January and half of Febuary those that even ordered early February were getting delivery dates of the 19th. If your preorder in January was pushed to the 19th, then that means they expect to have the build finished and line all the deliveries up for the preorders in January and early February for delivery mid to late Feb.

Those that just ordered are probably getting ship dates in March, but now that we know they are moving, you know Apple is going to move these out before then to those ordering today since the stores will have them next week and you know the stores are on overnight delivery.

Just some things I have observed amongst all this.

The moral of the story is that all will probably get theirs before their current ship date as indicated.

Congratulations, mate.

First one, then a trickle followed by a deluge.

Here we go, chaps and chapesses! :D

My card was charged, but for 4 days now the transaction shows as pending. Someone else mentioned they spoke to Apple and they told him that they only reserve the full amount on the card so once it's ready to ship the payment clears. I think that's why many people said their cards had been charged, but in fact payment is still pending.

Perhaps those that can still cancel should call their local Apple store and see if they are in. If so, then you can have yours today and skip all the FEDEX hoopla.:)

Ok, let's get a show of hands...who is calling their local store and see if they are in.

I just cannot believe that they would wait to stock the stores just because others ordered back in early January. I wouldn't do that in a million years, unless stocking the stores with a few models would prevent me from meeting the delivery date issued to the preorder buyer.

Krypt, what was your ship date before you received this notification? Was it the 19th, or sooner?

Ok, same as mine. When did you order and what was your ship date before this update, if you don't mind sharing?:)

no unibody 17" at the apple stores in atlanta, ga. :-( at this point, if they get it before mine ships, i might go buy a glossy one just in case my matte one doesn't ship for another 2 weeks (scheduled to ship 2/27).

ciao,
mike.

Makes sense. They are sending these out quick, especially if you went from not shipped yet to "shipping" skipping the "prep for shipping" status.

We wish you well with the new MBPro. Let us know how it goes.
