As stated in another post, I ordered a MBP 17" antiglare with a 7200 HD. The website states that it is to be delivered between March 11 and 17. It has not shipped yet. Tomorrow is the 7th business day after my order was placed so I am praying that it will finally be sent. It's not even prepared for shipment and my mastercard hasn't been charged yet.

Delayed!

Okay I ordered a 17" Glossy with 320gb 7200rpm HDD on the 31st January from a reseller in the UK.
They told me in Feb to expect to pick it up from their store on the 10th March.
Now they tell me Apple have delayed it to ship sometine in the third week in March!
Is this taking the piss??

I got this email from Apple this morning:

Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following
item(s) as follows:

Z0G5, MBP 17/CTO
Ships by 4 business days
Delivers by Mar 19 - Mar 23

We regret any inconvenience this delay may cause.

Unfortunately not, it's similar to what I've been hearing from my local reseller. It would appear that Apple are holding back 17" MacBook Pros from resellers while they still have orders coming into their online store. The new iMacs have already arrived with them but they have no idea when the MacBook Pros will be in stock beyond the now traditional "hopefully next week or the week after".

Same thing happened to me. Today is the 9th business day since I placed the order and I received the email from Apple about the delay.

your complaining about 7-9 days!!! I am complaining about 51 days without a shipping notice/date.....
but then again, I ordered through a reseller, didn't have any choice...but I really hope apple can get a grip soon and begin shipping to resellers!!

So let me get this straight: We're in a recession. The current unemployment rate here in the U.S. is currently at 8.1% and Apple can not keep up with the demands of a $3,000 notebook? Wow. I don't get it.

Just called Apple to ask them about my order, and they said since today is the 7th business day after my order it should ship today... I however can't shake the feeling that the person I was talking to had in fact no more information than I can obtain myself on the status page of my order...

Zube, I'll keep you updated if I hear anything new!

Astro,

Coincidentally, I called Apple on the 7th business day after placing my order and they told me the same thing. Then two days later I received the "order delayed" email. I'm guessing it's the matte screen which is delaying our orders.

Ha ha,
it looks like Apple thought that matte screen is not gonna have such a high demand and they underestimated the volume. That serves them right for trying to push the glassy on us. I hope they learned this time.
It's painful to watch you guys having it delayed so much as I will be ordering very soon. I hope they will fix it till then. I'm giving them 2 weeks ;))))

At my local Apple Store, the only 17-inch on display is the anti-glare, and the only model they have in stock for sale is the anti-glare. Glossy models are sold out, and they haven't received new stock for a few days.

I am a proud owner of a MBP! Finally!

I ordered the 17" unibody MBP, standard specs + Matte screen from a reseller 46 days ago, and it finally is here!

Now I can stop having these dreams of getting shipping confirmation numbers on it...

I couldn't resist anymore and ordered today.
estimated delivery 31.3. - 6.4.
matte
320gb 7200 HDD
applecare

I hope I'll get lucky and it gets here earlier :)

Same as me! Ordered on March 3... and not sent yet. I'm dreading getting an e-mail tomorrow or Monday to let me know that it's been delayed...

Shipped as anticipated a few hours ago

Got shipping notification from Apple this morning, and Fedex shows my package in route from Shanghai. According to the flight tracker at www.flightstats.com, that puts my MBP at 34,000 feet (10363 m) just about over the Aleutians, and traveling at 667 mph (1074 km/h) about 1h 40m from Anchorage. After 2 hours to refuel and change crews, the flight will continue on to Memphis, and without delays will touch down a little before midnight Central Daylight Time - finally in the lower 48. There is a chance I'll get it tomorrow, but FedEx Promises no later than 10:30am Monday.

Me too, but I'm going to create some errands to run for the rest of the day, so I don't just sit around and watch the little airplane icon fly across the Bering Sea and then wait or it to start moving again when the flight takes off from Anchorage. Maybe I can find some ways to be productive if I'm not on the internet for awhile.
