Stick in SSD in the current MBP that you own - instant refresh. Probably 85% of Apple's consumers do not need more processing power than that of a 13" MBA. Time is money, and I'd hate to just waste time waiting when there is an option that is more than suitable out there for me (and most likely the majority of you).

You have a kick-arse laptop headed your way. Why the frown? Get over the new refresh and enjoy your new machine.

Hey!

I like the rest of us nuts want the latest of the latest but what I've got is bad ass. I know is bad ass that is why I ordered one. Why the frown? Because damn fedex can't get here fast enough :D:D:D:D:D:D and this MBP is a gift for the wife, but mine is coming soon after apple releases the new ones :eek::eek:

In the mean time...the 24" iMac is keeping me happy in the home office :D

Cheers!

Wait until the refresh because...

1) Despite waiting possibly 3 months, you then have a laptop that will be relevant for at least another 12, so net gain is 9 months of being within the minimum hardware pre requisite for future programs and OS versions.

2) If you go for a previous model, when the refresh is announced, you may get hold of some extra discount. Not necessarily from Apple but this is the time when you want to buy one as the new ones are out and everyone wants one

3) The large cash outlay brings you the most up to date kit that will bring longer service life / increased resale value

This assumes your desire for a laptop is not driven by a requirement that must be fulfilled immediately.

Exactly! Of course, I start cursing if I try to use Illustrator while parallels is running. (I sometimes have time to make coffee before a render finishes... :p. And that's okay because atm, design isn't my whole day and I can still get by with a little help from my friends.)

And to robfern,
that i7 is SWEET! I almost had myself convinced at least ten times since this thread was created. I am sure that your wife will love it. My wife is waiting for my current mbp to get replaced to take my orphan from me.:D
