Strange thing!

Hey guys!

A really weird thing happened to me yesterday.

Yesterday I ordered my MBP at 22:30. This morning I've been checking my Apple Order Status and... my MBP is already on its way to me!!!

WTF! It has not been shipped from China, but from The Netherlands because the status reads that it will arrive tomorrow.... :)

Actually I had ordered my unibody 2 times before the day of today, but then I cancelled my order because of the problems I read about in this forum and the delivery time which was way too long to be acceptable...

Now, my MBP has been shipped in less than 12 hours (I checked the status at 8:00 am this morning). It seems to go so fast now, but I am worried again.

Is it normal? I hope Apple is not going to give me some secondhand/opened laptop, which has been laying in their storage places in Holland...

I am curious ;)

Did you order a CTO? If not, i think it's kind of normal that they have them in stock already

Yeah, I ordered a MBP 2,53Ghz default configuration. I did exactly the same two other times I placed an order, but at that time my laptop would have been delivered in 2-3 weeks. Now, it takes only 2 days :) Great service, isn't it!?

Friday I get a call, the backpack I ordered to go along with the MBP has arrived. The enquiry as to the status of the MBP I get the same story I talked about earlier. Oh well, I'll go and fetch the backpack and wait, and wait, and ...

Later I get a call from my better half that iCentre has called her that the MCP is ready to be picked up ,and if I could call them about changed prices ,etc. Huh? And just a few minutes earlier I am told the computer is nowhere to be seen? Good cooperation there I gather...

After a call to make sure that the computer is indeed the computer as I wanted it, and not another "prank" I draw the conclusion that everything is indeed okay.

Next day I go to the store all the while thinking: "What can still go wrong now?". But incredible as it seems the thing is there, the price is what I expected (in other words, the normal price, not the plus 93 that was mentioned earlier). And I went home with the backpack and the computer!!!

Box says: shipped from China, so the 3 week wait was understandable. No beef with that anymore. Disk is a Hitachi something or other. A Google confirms that it is indeed the thing that is deployed as a 7200 rpm disc. Strangely enough though that on the Hitachi site itself it is an unknown as I would have expected Google to turn up a link from hitachi.com.

Now I've reformatted the thing and am in the process of installing all my goodies so I can take it on the road and the studio, etc.

I am left wondering if the computer that had come in 2 weeks ago is in fact the correct one, and they wanted to exchange a 7200 rpm disk with another 7200 rpm disk? I do know that if I ever do business with them again I will work with just one person there, as the guy I had to call back about the prices was the only one that seemed to know about stuff.

Peace out, and let's go happy computing.

Hi guys, i don't know if any of you is still subscribed to this thread but i give it a try.

After 3 - 4 months of having the new MBP, what are your findings with it?

My findings:
- Running Vista with bootcamp leads to extremely overheated processor
- Charging the battery to 100% takes quite a long time (5h+)

Nevertheless, I am still a really happy and satisfied owner of the MBP :)

Cheers y'all
