Is there any confirmation that this is a full install disk or just an upgrade drop-in-type disk?

I'd like to put in my order, but I would rather have a full install disk.

I had the empty cart too. Here's how to fix.

Select US retail store regardless if you purchased it online.

Select an apple store in your area as the location, enter your serial number and date purchased.

I said UTC san diego even though my order was BTO online purchase.

Needless to say it let me qualify my system.

Yep, did it last night.

I feel Apple obsessed, in less than a year I've had two whitebooks, and a MacBook Pro. Also, I've owned every iPhone within that period (And three iPods too!)

Quick!!! Get it while it's hot. Although it won't ship until September, it's good to take care of it now. I did it and it was damn cheap and easy. :)

I pre-ordered Snow Leopard and I also pre-ordered four Windows 7 upgrades. So September and October will be OS refresh time for my household.

Confusing chat with Apple on UK website

I tried to place an order online and the upgrade was in my basket at the correct price. I went all through the checkout process and at the final hurdle it told me I had already ordered the upgrade. No order went into the system and my basket was emptied.

This is in the UK. MBP was ordered a couple of weeks ago and delivered last week. I tried the online chat function on the site and had this very confusing conversation. Anyone in the UK definitely managed to place an order online?

Apple: Hi, my name is <removed> Welcome to Apple!

Apple: Hello!

Me: Hi <removed>

Apple: How may I help you today?

Me: I have a question about pre-ordering Snow Leopard. I just ordered and received a 13" MBP

Apple: Sure.

Me: Tried to complete the add to basket upgrade and it looked fine but after entering billing info it said I have already purchased an upgrade

Me: Definitely haven't!

Me: MBP was from UK Edu store if that makes any difference

Apple: Just disregard that. Snow Leopard is not available for purchase or pre-order at this time.

Me: It's a way off but don't want to miss deadline to order

Apple: It's not available anywhere as of yet.

Me: But I know people who have pre-ordered the upgrade for new machines??

Apple: Just another minute...

Apple: That option is not currently available. Snow Leopard will be available for order in September.

Me: Then this page must be incorrect?

Me: http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/uptodate/

Me: If I wait until September then I am outside the 90-day upgrade window from date of purchase

Apple: I'm not seeing anything on that link regarding a pre-order.

Me: Customers who purchase a qualifying new Mac computer or an Apple Certified Refurbished computer from the Apple Online Store on or after June 8th, 2009 that does not include Mac OS X Snow Leopard can upgrade to Snow Leopard for £7.95*. Remember your completed order form must be postmarked within 90 days of the date of your purchase of a qualifying computer (described in this offer) or by December 26th, 2009, whichever is earlier. If you purchased your computer directly from the Apple Online Store, follow this link to participate in the programme. Subject to terms and conditions.

Apple: That is indicating that you can upgrade to Snow Leopard for the price listed when it is available in September.

Me: No. It states I need to place an order within 90 days of the purchase date of my qualifying computer. The final sentence is a link to complete the order online.

Apple: I am really sorry for keeping you waiting, I'll be just another moment.

Apple: That option is not currently available, despite the link. It is not available for preorder at this time.

Me: OK. Thanks

Apple: You're welcome.

I have managed although at first i was getting the 'empty basket' problem. After countless failed attempts to order the Snow Leopard Up-To-Date offer i finally succeeded with the following sequence:

1. Open Safari Preferences
2. Under 'Accept Cookies' make sure you select 'Always'
3. Exit preferences and QUIT Safari (It's important you fully quit Safari)
4. Re-open Safari and go to the UP-To-Date pages and qualify your order, your basket should update properly this time
5. Spend your $10/£7.95 on what is the bargain of the year!
6. Change your Safari Preferences back to your original settings

Worked for me straight away doing this after many failed attempts.

Dont know if this will help your problem but worth a shot! I cant understand why the person you were chatting with couldn't seem to grasp what you were on about even after providing a link!

You CAN order it now regardless of what she says.

I ordered. There is not reason not to. 1) the "offer" is only valid for 90 days after you buy your computer and 2) Apple doesn't charge your CC until they ship. So order now while you are still thinking about it lest you remember on the 91st day. D'oh!

after about 30 order attempts during today and yesterday and the comedy apple help chat I posted earlier, I've now managed to get an order in.

No browser settings changed in the end - the winning combination was Opera 10 Beta on Windows Server 2008 32 bit. Suspect that's a pretty minority setup around here though. Or anywhere, come to think of it!

Whole process seems somewhat flaky but happy now (or will be once email confirmation of order arrives).

Good luck everyone!

Man, this thread is a gonna be a interesting come launch.

When SL is released, I wonder how many people here will be:

1 - Screaming that they ordered in June, but that it "STILL hasn't shipped!!!"

and/or:

2 - The remorse: "If I had waited/done nothing, I could have just walked into the apple store TODAY and picked it up...."

We will see.

Good luck all!

I did the same, and it worked at last! Maybe BTO orders are not automatically recognised when you log in to your Apple account, since those are not listed on the qualifying model list.

Yes. Followed these steps, finally ordered. I tried with the online store option and it did not add to my cart.

Just ordered mine. Wouldn't work on Firefox or IE8 on my laptop. I tried with my work desktop which has IE6. Lowered all the Privacy settings and then it worked.

FYI - I initially placed the order on a different PC through the online EDU store. Seems to work depending on the browser version you use.

I ordered a copy to bundle w/ my MBP when the time comes to sell it in a year or so. I'll most def. be buying a $29 upgrade copy for my MP which I'll also install on my MBP. But it is true that UTD orders usually ship after retail orders, and by a good week or so too. Completely different fulfilment operation. Still no reason not to order a UTD copy if you are eligible. And certainly no reason to spend $20 extra just to have it a week earlier.

Yup, that's what I did too. I tried every browser on both Windows and OS X but still ended up with the empty cart. So I switched to the retail alternative and suddenly it worked.

I'm sure their web stats will be very confusing, as they will indicate that nobody who bought their MBP straight from Apple's online store gives a crap about Snow Leopard.
