I've got a 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro with an absolutely beautiful display, no yellowing, no dead pixels, it's perfect.
Just wanted to post and state that mine wasn't affected by it, perhaps the quality control over in Cupertino has been tightened down a bit. I was pretty scared of getting the yellowing issue on itThat's wonderful for you, but this thread is about yellowing, which is clearly something you don't have. Go off and enjoy your beautiful display!![]()

Last week.
Hopefully it will go well for you. How do you tell what kind of screen your MacBook Pro has anyway?Good. I hope mine won't have any issues. Says it will be arriving on Tuesday but I hope for earlier. Left Alaska today at 1:46 PM.

Yup - just got a new 15" Penryn MBP (glossy) this week...
I have the bottom third yellow screen... but it dosn't go all the way across, it's mostly dead center in the bottom 1/3... A yellowish, pee-stain blob. It's not drastic, but definitely noticeable enough, especially compared to my Cinema display and another Acer laptop in the same room.
Not happy about this... I'm taking it back to the Apple store on Friday and can hopefully get a no-hassle exchange. I may even have them open the box and check it before I leave the store, such a pain...![]()
Which display do you have?
I got a penryn with a 09C81 LG display and do not have the yellowing. The viewing angle is poor on this display but no yellowing.
Jeff
Hi Jeff,
Have you used a macbook pro with LED display before? If so, do you think the viewing angle is worse than the previous ones? I checked out the 09c81 yesterday but didn't really pay that much attention to viewing angles....

Read the very first line of the very first post:
"This is an effort to determine if people are recieving new MBP without the bottom yellow screen issue..."
Check your facts and don't be so rude.
I strongly believe PDE was just joking. Hence the smiley face.
I got the same problem like many others however the yellowing is only about 1/2'" at the bottom.
I ran the Pantone HueyPro Calibration and the new profile took care of the issue, the yellow huey's gone.
My monitor is 00009C83, I believe it's the Samsung
I'm posting the profile here. Give it a try and see if that helps.
After you downloaded the file you should see two .icc profile in there. Copy them into to your (your user name) Folder, Library, Color Sync, Profiles.
Then go to System Pref., Display, Color, uncheck Show Profile for this display only. You show see a profile name Pantone 3-1-2008. Try it and see if that fix your problem
Mine is not as bad to start with so it's a relief to see HueyPro took care of it.![]()
Oh god it just made my slight white-yellowing way more obvious lol.
Should i keep this pantone profile on so the geniuses see the problem more easily? i already intended on taking it to the genius tommorrow morning, i just dont want them to think that i was just trying to make the bottom screen look yellow because i was using this profile. Advice?[/QUOTE
It shouldn't be yellow in just one area with any profile so use whatever profile that shows the issue. rememeber that apple
messed up and you're just asking for what you paid for: a laptop with a good screen/ a "pro" machine!
