Oh god it just made my slight white-yellowing way more obvious lol.

Should i keep this pantone profile on so the geniuses see the problem more easily? i already intended on taking it to the genius tommorrow morning, i just dont want them to think that i was just trying to make the bottom screen look yellow because i was using this profile. Advice?

LOL, that's funny:rolleyes: sorry not much help.

I would say use the Mac default profile, otherwise they say it's your custom profile messing things up.

I got the same problem like many others however the yellowing is only about 1/2'" at the bottom.

I ran the Pantone HueyPro Calibration and the new profile took care of the issue, the yellow huey's gone. :D

My monitor is 00009C83, I believe it's the Samsung

I'm posting the profile here. Give it a try and see if that helps.
After you downloaded the file you should see two .icc profile in there. Copy them into to your (your user name) Folder, Library, Color Sync, Profiles.

Then go to System Pref., Display, Color, uncheck Show Profile for this display only. You show see a profile name Pantone 3-1-2008. Try it and see if that fix your problem

Mine is not as bad to start with so it's a relief to see HueyPro took care of it.:D

I have a question....When i go into my username and then to library, i dont see my colorsync file. My other MBP that i returned because of the yellow had this file, but i dont see it on mine, so what do i do?

Just received my glossy mbp and it has the Samsung screen with the nice yellow band. Besides that, no problems. After reading all the problems on here, I'm scared to send it back and get something worse...

i totally know how you feel.
been playing the game of exchanges since 3rd week of feb..
i have the 9c81 right now, slight yellowing, but i guess i'll be keeping it.
aside from that, the machine is doing everything its supposed to do.
the pain of shipping.. and waiting for the replacement is just obscene!

I cracked open the replacement that I've been waiting two weeks for, to find another C82.

Interestingly the mid-grayscale level is actually more even from top to bottom with only a hint of yellow tint. White level is still dimmer going down the screen but not particularly abhorrent.

However, the black level is now bad. With backlight bleed on the left side and mura effects all over the lower third. The fact they are spread out makes the yellow problem less noticeable but just makes the uneven black level more noticeable. Particularly when watching a theater aspect ratio movie in the dark at mid-high brightness.

First is with the brightness maxed out and the aperture open to see the extent of the failure region, second is a low-mid level brightness at a more normal exposure. The left side bleed is more noticeable to a real world eye thanks to the clearly defined flashlight beam appearance of three spots.

I'm going to see if I can live with it (and knowing it cost $3K) for a few days. If not I'm going straight for a refund because the display quality of a 2.6GHz 15 inch is not worth waiting another two weeks for, and then having no guarantee of a decent screen. At this point I may as well wait for WWDC to see if a totally redesigned MBP appears that may solve the issue.
