We all know Apple products have premium price. But their price on the new MacBooks is absolutely crazy far beyond my expectations. The 13" one with the touch bar is amazing and while watching the keynote, I knew this sucker was gonna be expensive...but at $1799.... Wow it's enough to buy 2 iphone 7 Plus 128gb

I'm with you. I was just about willing to deal with the removal of all the ports I love and update my very old 2008 model, but for what this machine offers, $2300 base for the 15"? Can't imagine what it will be after the standard upgrades.. Probably has soldered RAM as well.

I was pretty shocked as well. Their strategy is to continue selling the more traditional updated 13" while introducing the new models as premium products. They forgot to replace the 15" with something more affordable, though.

I just checked the store and no 32GB RAM, ouch! Also configuring a very nice 13" (with 1TB storage) costs nearly $3,000. Pretty incredible...

If they had went with Kaby Lake you could somewhat justify the pricing, but a year old processor? WTF Apple.

I think they will do a speed bump down the road. Kaby Lake is not "fully" out yet for mobile devices yet, at least the premium ones. They are both 14nm so I assume they'll just do a spec bump and be greedy as usual.

With plans to purchase the new hardware, a small price jump would have been understandable but at $2,300 after taxes... that is a lot to take for someone looking to spend $1,700 in the first place. (Canadian) wondering if they just alienated a portion of their customer base.

AHAHAHHAHAHAH Biggest update Ever!

The fact that for $2400 you get a measly 256GB SSD is the proverbial kick in the d**. Come on now, for that amount of money you should get at least 512GB, and really more like 1TB. Storage is cheap. I know with Apple you always pay a premium, but this just feels like a grab. I want one, but not at that price for those specs. Pretty touch bar or not.

Hahaha. That's so sad. They're introducing last year's CPU at today's price. I'm going to buy myself a Dell XPS 13 with Kaby Lake.

And Windows isn't an argument. I use it daily. This is just so bad. Good luck with your dongles.

Dell has touchscreen and someone could certainly create an app for Windows to have all those emoticons on display if I want to.

Apple isn't even trying to play catch-up.

Agreed. Thankfully I am not in the market for a new laptop but I feel for the people who are.

I was patiently waiting for Apple to release new MacBooks but it took them so long until now I'm out of school so I have no need for a laptop. But the price...just wow. Can't really justify that price point.
