We all know Apple products have premium price. But their price on the new MacBooks is absolutely crazy far beyond my expectations. The 13" one with the touch bar is amazing and while watching the keynote, I knew this sucker was gonna be expensive...but at $1799.... Wow it's enough to buy 2 iphone 7 Plus 128gb

I'm with you. I was just about willing to deal with the removal of all the ports I love and update my very old 2008 model, but for what this machine offers, $2300 base for the 15"? Can't imagine what it will be after the standard upgrades.. Probably has soldered RAM as well.

I absolutely agree. Apple hopes that the 13" MacBook Pro with function keys will lure 13" MBA buyers, but it costs an extra $500...

If they had went with Kaby Lake you could somewhat justify the pricing, but a year old processor? WTF Apple.

I was pretty shocked as well. Their strategy is to continue selling the more traditional updated 13" while introducing the new models as premium products. They forgot to replace the 15" with something more affordable, though.

I just checked the store and no 32GB RAM, ouch! Also configuring a very nice 13" (with 1TB storage) costs nearly $3,000. Pretty incredible...

Agreed. Thankfully I am not in the market for a new laptop but I feel for the people who are.

I think they will do a speed bump down the road. Kaby Lake is not "fully" out yet for mobile devices yet, at least the premium ones. They are both 14nm so I assume they'll just do a spec bump and be greedy as usual.

With plans to purchase the new hardware, a small price jump would have been understandable but at $2,300 after taxes... that is a lot to take for someone looking to spend $1,700 in the first place. (Canadian) wondering if they just alienated a portion of their customer base.

The fact that for $2400 you get a measly 256GB SSD is the proverbial kick in the d**. Come on now, for that amount of money you should get at least 512GB, and really more like 1TB. Storage is cheap. I know with Apple you always pay a premium, but this just feels like a grab. I want one, but not at that price for those specs. Pretty touch bar or not.

Hahaha. That's so sad. They're introducing last year's CPU at today's price. I'm going to buy myself a Dell XPS 13 with Kaby Lake.

And Windows isn't an argument. I use it daily. This is just so bad. Good luck with your dongles.

Dell has touchscreen and someone could certainly create an app for Windows to have all those emoticons on display if I want to.

Apple isn't even trying to play catch-up.

I'm glad I didn't wait! I love the new touchbar but I don't love it THAT much. It'll come down in price though. The early adopters can fund the development, I'll happily wait a generation or two.

I like to upgrade every 2 years. Now I'm wondering if Macs are still for me.

    Damn Apple is super greedy.

I'll stick with my 2014 rMBP.

I was patiently waiting for Apple to release new MacBooks but it took them so long until now I'm out of school so I have no need for a laptop. But the price...just wow. Can't really justify that price point.

I'm not one to scoff at the "Apple Tax". I believe you get what you pay for, and Apple delivers in quality and service - but damn, these seem crazy. Entry level for 13" Touch Bar and then for 15" is just astronomical. I think my early 2015 will be okay for a while.

Wait until you see the UK prices, they are ridiculous. When I saw the 13" without the silly strip I thought that is the one. The cheapest at nearly £1,500!!! Laugh laugh laugh.
    Refurb store quick..........

Next year, they're gonna be $100 cheaper.

No, wait, they're gonna be the same price but more features, and Phil will tout the usual:

"Guys, we made our Macs cheaper by giving you more features for the same price. Isn't it magical!"

What a freaking joke. So glad I bought my Dell XP 15 in Feb and didn't wait for this.

    Skylake i7
    16GB Ram
    512GB SSD
    4k UHD
    Dedicated NVIDIA graphics
    Edge to Edge display

All for less than 1200 from the Dell Outlet.
