i bought my mbp 13 2weeks ago and in general im getting 5.5 -7hr depending on how many time spend on flash or youtube alike.

i once try to go all the way with flash, it last about 4hrs only.

meantime, is there anyway to turn off the apple logo light in front? maybe it will help some percentage of power. :D

anyhow, macbook is something new to me and yet entertaining.

Nah, it's permanent and lit by the screen backlight, so there's no way to turn it off without shutting the lid of the computer.

It sucks because I don't want to give Apple any free advertising, but my computer is going to look awful ugly with a big piece of duct tape on the lid...

not a scam, pretty spot on if you factor in their settings and all. I ran my 17" i5 MBP on 75% brightness, wifi, with two external HDDS plugged in and watching video/installing apps from 11 am- 6pm. Pretty impressive I think.

I just calibrated my new MBP 13 for the first time. Now I'm seeing a solid 8 hours with 60 percent screen brightness, web and mail.

...make that nearly 9 hours. Not bad at all :)

usually when they say a time i knock off about two hours and that is pretty close to the actual amount you will get.

I just got my 13" MBP on Friday. Calibrated the battery and got cracking. The power cord popped out when I moved it from a table to my lap and when I put it back in, the battery went from 100% to 46% instantly. Apple Care had me reset PRAM and recalibrate. The drain cycle look just under 2.5 hours with music playback, web browsing (no video), 50% brightness, and all wireless on. I'll delay calling shenanigans on the battery until it fully recharges this afternoon, but I'm thinking my battery is defective. It sounds like I'm not the only one.

Taking it in tomorrow...

Got my MBP back yesterday after of Apple having it for a week to replace the battery. Calibrated it last night. Same circumstances as in the pic, but now I get 6 hours instead of 5.5, my mid09 MBP would get 6 hours with more stuff running..
Glad I got what I paid for...

do you cover the logos on your car, shirts, shoes, hats etc too? lol:confused:

Have you actually run the battery completely dead and timed your use? or are you needlessly complaining?

my computer said 9 hours and i was able to achieve 11:18.. it sounds like you are simply going from teh time displayed and you haven't actually used a full charge.

lol my battery health is greater than 100% (6937 mAh out of 6900 mAh expected :p)

also when word processing with brightness down and everything off i get over 9hrs (mbp 15" i7)

so im happy. i had a 2 1/2hr flight where i watched 5 episodes of how i met your mother. i still had 70% remaining when we landed.

yeah i believe it is a scam, even on the 15" 8-9 hours estimated, ive done battery calibrations and set my keyboard lights off and screen to about medium lighting and on casual web surfing i can barely get over 6 hours. but w/e...ya kno we only spend 2+ grand on these things...........

My MBP13 (2.4) was having battery issues too.

10% usage after 30 minutes of low brightness/wifi on/bluetooth off/lighted keyboard on. No flash websites, just MR/Other non-flash websites.

It was getting about 5 hours which is significantly less than my previous MBP13 which was getting 6-7 (2.26 with the 7Hr).

Did a battery calibration twice and life was showing 99% (5739/5770) which is normal, but the drain was still high.

And then I found the problem. Background random switching every 5 seconds which I turned on for fun after configuring the laptop for the first time. This feature alone drained my battery twice as fast. I'd advise everyone to turn it off unless you are using a power adapter.

I haven't run it down to 0 as I've just been at home and don't stay on for more than a couple hours at a time. Brightness at 50% and on a few websites without flash..after about an hour it goes from 100% to 70%. I think I can safely say I will not get anywhere close to 10 hours. When I have the time to leave it on for a while I will check exact time...

Uninstalling iStat Menus made a big difference in my battery life... thanks for the tip! :) I generally get at least 8 hours out of my 13", sometimes up to 11 hours.

if in fact your problem persists beyond this then you should take the computer in to the apple store and have them replace the battery. It will be covered under apple care.

Today I had time to check times. Started at 6:50PM, died at 12:34AM.
5:44 minutes from 100% to turning off. Time estimated from 100% was 5:47.

Brightness 50%, airport on and only running Safari(visited around 300 pages without flash/video) and Finder(no istats). This is my 2nd battery, first one did the same. So either my computer is a factory freak that uses a lot of power or I have really bad luck with these batteries.

Has anyone considered that if your battery health is 90-100%, and you still can't get 9-10 hours at half brightness and web surfing without flash, then it is probably a software issue, and NOT a battery issue?

My hard drive was in my mid09 2.26 that would get 7 hours and put it in my mid10 2.4 and get less than 6.
