This idea that Apple must radically change the design of the phones to make people happy is silly. Shouldn't you care more about the internal components and software capabilities? I get the concern about the headphone jack, but every other complaint is superficial.

And if you're looking for design variety from Samsung, prepare to be disappointed.

Perhaps I was a bit sloppy with my language. The current design is tired in the sense that it's poorly executed. We still have unsightly antenna bands, a protruding camera, excessively wide bevels, slippery ergonomics, etc. Apple doesn't need to reinvent the iPhone, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't improve upon it. The design has too many functional compromises, and now with the lack of a headphone jack, it's getting worse before it gets better.

I think that's a perfectly reasonable complaint.

He is not wrong, it is theorectically possbile to anodise aluminium white, all it requires is someone to find a way to make a white dye that has small enough molecules (which currently would require something like a quantum leap in technology).

“It would require a quantum leap for this to be realistic. Together with DTU and the Danish Technological Institute, we therefore decided to take a different approach. Rather than using color pigments, we try to build up the top layer and design it so that it becomes white in the process. What is quite magical is that with this technology, the product is aluminium-colored before anodizing, but will appear white or white-like afterwards, without ‘white pigmentation’,” Jørgen Dam explains

That's dying, it's not anodizing.

If Apple really does include a fake speaker grill I'll be surprised. It certainly goes against Ives' minimalist design principles. I'll also be sad/pissed about the absence of a 3.5mm jack. Loathing the idea of a dongle needed to run a bunch of my non-stock-ear-bud audio connections.

I agree.

It's just a gimmick. Anyone who understands photography, knows it's marketing hype.
It actually seems like it would be quite practical to me, but mind you, I'm not that educated in photography. I do however see lots of photographers switch out lenses on their cameras. Wouldn't this dual camera setup be similar to that? Have one lens for close-ups and one lens for distance? A sort of optical zoom without any moving parts?

So, Apple CAN color the antenna bands.
Hopefully they do the same for the other colors, instead of being lazy and left them as ugly white bands.

100% agree. I would go out of my way not to have that hideous thing on my phone, regardless of photo taking ability. The phone for me is about taking great photos in the moment for fun, which the 6S is more than adequate for. Would I be opposed to a better camera , no, but if it comes with needing a dual lens and looking like that, no thanks. If I want to get serious I will bring out a DSLR / real camera.

I think we should be at the point where if you order an iPhone directly from Apple that they can make it any color within the RGB spectrum that you want.
Indeed!

Fact is Apple has massive resources, highly skilled, experienced and capable. Yet Apple's narcissistic attitude prevents them from listening to customers, being creative, and soaring above the competition.

There's a vast number of things Apple could do to further distinguish themselves as the premier smartphone maker.

But no... fat and happy where they are, content to dictate to customers, Apple's leaving an awful lot of additional money on the table.

Glossy! Why Apple got rid of a black iPhone I'll never understand. It just makes sense.

no smart connector dots.

Well, smart connector dots don't have much utility on an ipad mini. However, they do have utility for larger ipads. This is the whole form over function everyone is raving about.

If the smart dots have some useful function, then who cares if three dots breaks the utility. It is for using, not looking at!

If all we cared about is looks, we might as well remove the lightening dock. Hell, let's remove the buttons as well. Let's just make it a solid block so we can look at polished metal.
[doublepost=1471325954][/doublepost]Easy to make mock up when you don't change the damn form factor for 3 years!

I'm going to speak with my wallet. So many others talk about jumping to android, I hope they do and hit apple where it hurts!

I am looking forward to switching if Apple doesn't pull some amazing and give me a reason to stay. Not sure why I would get an outdated phone just out of loyalty (which Tim boasts about and takes for granted!)

I feel like if that mock up is real then Apple could have colour matched the black bands a bit better....

At this point, switching to a SIM-only contract and getting a discounted 6S Plus seems the best course of action provided I want to remain with Apple. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
