Well, smart connector dots don't have much utility on an ipad mini. However, they do have utility for larger ipads. This is the whole form over function everyone is raving about.

If the smart dots have some useful function, then who cares if three dots breaks the utility. It is for using, not looking at!

If all we cared about is looks, we might as well remove the lightening dock. Hell, let's remove the buttons as well. Let's just make it a solid block so we can look at polished metal.
[doublepost=1471325954][/doublepost]Easy to make mock up when you don't change the damn form factor for 3 years!

I'm going to speak with my wallet. So many others talk about jumping to android, I hope they do and hit apple where it hurts!

I am looking forward to switching if Apple doesn't pull some amazing and give me a reason to stay. Not sure why I would get an outdated phone just out of loyalty (which Tim boasts about and takes for granted!)
Wait a minute. Where did wireless technology go? We don't need a physical connection from the keyboard to an iPad. Smart Connecter dots are a total compromise in design, they restrict how you can use the iPad and the keyboard together, they aren't simple, they aren't clean, they aren't necessary. Apple's Smart Connecter dots are total rubbish and the functions they provide can be achieved though other and better means.

The color is great.... however I still can't understand why they would still make the camera stick out, yeah its an improvement from the 6/6s... but still clean it up...

What we can't do wirelessly is charge it (yet!). So if Apple had a smart cover, would you want to charge it separately? Makes sense to power it from the iphone it self.

OF COURSE this is all speculation. Who knows right? Anyways.. I have always wanted a e-ink cover for my phone. If the smart dots are for something dumb, then I agree with you.. NO NEED for them! :)

I still have faith Apple engineers can dream up something extremely that I can't phantom.
